i had my trailer tires filled with nitrogen when towing a 30' boat from California about a day into the trip. I blew two tires so when i got them replaced i had all of them filled with nitrogen, after that i didnt have anymore problems. Whether the first blowouts were from the tires age or their contents i am not sure, but it seemed to do well from there on out in the changing temperatures of 104+

I keep thinking about doing this to the audi, but just haven't been motivated to do so, maybe now i will. I also heard there is no/less moisture in the tire when using nitrogen, not sure if thats true or not.

Nitrogen filled tires is a bunch of crap.

I work at Les Schwab for a living, and we as a company do not sell the product mainly because if has little TO NO positive effects on a tire.

The nitrogen simply does nothing. A tire is going to reach a certain temperature regardless of the temperature the tire has inside or out. Overtime a tire will lose pressure and eventually the gasses will not be present overtime. People all the time come into my work for a flat tire filled with nitrogen air, and they say "I have a flat tire, and I just pumped it up to get here at the local gas station." So they pay X amount of dollars for the nitrogen fill from Costco that has already leaked out from the tire puncture. Come to Les Schwab for the flat repair, we fix the tire and the guys out in the bays know they have Nitrogen with the nifty green caps they give you. After the flat is fixed we air it back up with COMPRESSED FILTERED air that has NO moisture. We put their nifty green caps back on and there they have it. They paid the X amount of dollars for their nifty green caps which was pointless.

Not to mention we recommend monthly air checks, as tires DO lose air overtime, and as we refill them and mix the nitrogen and regular oxygen together taking away ANY sort of LITTLE benefit nitrogen has, if at all any.

Sounds like over/under inflation to me. Or a weak/seperated casing.

    Bias or radial ply?

ok first did you read the benies i wrote? If its "crap" why do so many people who track their cars, race or nascar( i hate nascar) fill their tires with it...?
Second your arguing if theres a hole or some hole in the tire to leak out, of course if there is a a way for air to release from teh tire it will, no matter if you filled it with water, pudding (hopefully tapioca, its yummy)

It may not have the biggest benifits but it doees help AND! There is a little service that goes along with it.....

And you may recomend monthly tire check and stuff, but honestly who really does, maybe 60% of the real driving world.

Re: Bellevue Best Buy does Nitrogen for tires..thought Id share this

i think i am going to look into it and give it a test run to find out for myself. I too have several relatives who worked at Les Schwab in Seattle for a very long time and you are right that they didnt use nitrogen at their stores either but i have never heard anything negative about filling your tires with Nitrogen, so what could it hurt? Especially if it comes with the road services listed on the site for a full year for only 40 bucks? (I hope to check on that more tomorrow) And although i doubt i would ever use the roadside assistance since i am not afraid of changing my own flats and i have access to a tow dolley for those real SNAFUs, it would still be nice for when i let the g/f drive the car to know that if something should happen where i cant get there to take care of it, shes taken care of.

So in that respect it seems like the offer is worth trying out for a minimal investment. I also hear what you are saying about pressure leaking out then people topping it off with air, then thereby defeating the whole purpose, and i agree with you on that, but if i have free nitrogen top offs for a year and if its convenient for me to take advantage of them, which the Bellevue location is, then why not. Might as well pull in and have someone else do the job, saves me from firing up the air compressor and running the hose out to my car every time which for me is a pain weaving it through my currently cluttered garage lol So you are correct that it adds an extra step in filling up tires since i can no longer do it at my house anymore which may create a hassle in certain situations, but should i really desperately need to fill a tire, and use air, then i will, and oh well at least i will still have the road service. Anyway thats just my 2 cents.

its not crap... it does make a difference, our military uses it, and our navys helicopters tires are filled with it, normal air wouldnt hold.
