    2.8 fwd transmission noise

    on my 2001 A6 front wheel drive automatic, when the transmission downshifts to first gear, there is a small "clunk". I'm thinking i need to get the transmission serviced or whatever. Anyone know what the problem is? I have about 111,xxx miles

    it's only when it shifts to first gear from a higher gear.
