Headlight LED Mod

I have posted few days ago that I was working on a Headlight LED upgrade. I finally got the strips (coming from an aircraft, B777, and I can get a lot of them for a reasonable price). These do have the resistor incorporated, means, no light. I would like first to get your opinion and then, would like to get from the community an old headlight for prototype.
PM me if you have one lying around and I will pay for shipping . I took couple picture with a different expose to give you an idea. They are really bright!!! On the picture, the LED strip is temporary attached to the outside of the headlight (this is why he does not follow the headlight contour perfectly

I would assume so but no PM yet. Not sure what else I can do: I will pay for shipping, should be able to finish the prototype in 2 or 3 days, and if it works, the initial donor can send me his healights and I will retrofit them for free (minus LED strip cost)

looks good! The mod is not very hard too do, surprised many people havent done it.

If people are in Socal, ill do it for a price haha..I went a different route for my headlights =D

I like the idea of LEDS, but there are alot in your version and they are pretty small.

Just want to chime-in here. I have used those type of LEDs for my A3 (using an FK projection housing) and althought looked good at night- they totally get washed out during the day (sunlight). (see picture 1 of how they looked). The LEDs also started to fade/ failed on some section)
I got the idea from a b7 A4 avant from Spain (Audi-sport Iberica).
This was about a year ago (see link):

I have since upgraded to individual ''4chip" LEDs- very bright- almost matches new A4 LEDs (compared next to each other at an Audi dealer). I also initiated the fog-grill LED mod (see picture 2) about 8 months ago. And Picture 3 and 4 shows the much better and reliable LEDs. Picture 5 is ''all-On-Overkill"

I wouldnt recommend the Flexible LED strips if you are installing it inside the headlamps.

Thank you very much for the advice. Without being too technical, the fade encountered is normal if during the LED manufacturing process, the trip layer was not stabilized. The LED strip that I am using (remember coming from an ailiner) is FAA approved will not have the same problem. As soon as my proto is done (mid next week) I will post picture during daylight.

I have a used xenon housing that I bought to tear appart before I open my brand new xenon housings to black them out and do the CC mod. I'll gladly mail it to you if you want it.

The seller did send me new sets that are curiously brighter and whiter after 2 sets have failed. I noticed too that the previous sets has more bluish hue during the day, as oppsed to the new sets that theyve sent me which is pure white, well pretty much same brightness as the ones you showed. But i decided to use the individual 4chip LEDs.

awesome! You will love it! I'm having a hard time which ones to turn on for my car, either the foggrill or the headlamp LEDs- they both look good!

I was going to take this on myself but haven't found time to really figure it all out. Plus, I'm too scared of opening up my headlights and modifying them like this without some insurance that it won't completely F things up.

No problem Dude. We should be fixed by the end of next week:
I have a set of headlight arriving Monday, 40 strips of LED arriving Tuesday (my wife almost killed me because I had to pay up front without being sure if it works and not sure either if some of you guys will be interested). I'll start to work on the project on Wednesday and should be done, with pics Friday. Stay tuned
