So I've been running a Neuspeed exh. system on my 2001 B5 A4 for a few years now. Its a nice system, quiet at idle and cruising, no droning, very unassuming and definitely wouldn't turn the head of the Po-po
Neuspeed system:
But one thing that's bothered me, the system makes a sharp hissing sound, like a lot of very high velocity air is being forced out of a hole that is too small. It definitely sounded restrictive, so I wanted to do some testing to see if there were some gains that could be had.
My A4 info is here:

Its a very nice daily driver car IMO, dead nuts reliable, fast, good mileage, my Mom or Wife can drive it. Its been putting down about 230whp with the Neuspeed system, but there must be more.
So I bolted in one of our 034Motorport 3" dual muffler systems, pictured here:
This system is 3" from the turbo back, one 3" straight through Borla muffler at the center, and a Magnaflow 3" inlet dual 2.5" outlet. All connections are v-bands, all tubing stainless, etc.
Takes about an hour or two to install if you have a lift, bolts right on.
The results were pretty dramatic.
First off, the custom Motronic tuning was calling for about 22psi boost with the Neuspeed system, with the 034 exhaust boost now spiked to 32psi and wanted to hold to redline - holy! :o
So we had to actually retune the boost profile back down to 22psi just to get a good comparison.
The exh. system is definitely louder, but its not so loud that it sets off car alarms or attracts attention from the police. Most importantly, it doesn't drone or become loud on the ears cruising on the freeway. It certainly opens up when the throttle is mashed, and no more hissing, the exh. note sounds wonderful for a 1.8t IMO.
The gains:
30+ Wheel HP
25+ Wheel TQ
Full Boost approx 500rpm sooner
Turbo spools faster in transients, motor just feels more snappy all around.
See the dyno chart here:
The car obviously feels a lot faster now, and this was a great upgrade.
