The B5s came with quite a small turbo K03S, for the B6's which had the K03S I would say about 20 more HP over stock, more torque, and a wider power band.

Fuel injectors, software, the install kit, and you're good to go.

We have a few sets of siemens 36lb/380cc injectos that have the same conical spray pattern as the 60lb/630cc siemens, most software upgrades for the B6 use 380cc injectors, and these ones would work great.

001 is shaped differently (it's for the TT if i remember correctly), so it wont' fit in a B6 A4 without a good amount of custom work. 015 is the one you need.

Waste of money putting a K04 on a B6 A4 but i'll save that argument for another thread.

not at all, the TQ spike is awful for the tiptronic.
To properly do a K04 it'll cost in the range of $2000 and you won't end up with too much difference over a chip and EFIs (i've been both, i know). for $3500 you could be into a stage 3 setup which is has a much smoother TQ band and really flys.

of course there are situations there a K04 might be the best choice for whatever reason but i wish i had saved my money and put it into something else.

sorry to rag on the turbos your trying to sell guys.

There is no preventative turbo swapping schedule. Just drive until it dies... which may be never. Some people have put well over 200,000 miles on the stock k03. If the turbo is failing it usually starts to whistle pretty loudly because the turbine and/or compressor gets out of balance with shaft play or has foreign object damage and the blades are bent.

you could bolt it on with your stock setup, but to optimize gains those mods would be nice, injectors depend on the software you pick

Re: **Anyone interested in a K04-015 special**

Man, wish I'd seen this 5 months ago.

For what it's worth, I swapped out my K03S for a K04 a few months ago and ran it like that for about a month until I had time to put in 380's and get the APR K04 chip (I had a regular APR Stage 1 chip before), and noticed a difference even before I reflashed and put in bigger injectors.

If you're not looking to spend a lot and don't want to worry about rods or anything, IMO it's a good mod to do. You can save a few hundred by installing it yourself, as long as you have the right tools.

All of the dyno's I have seen for 1.8T's with k04's are under 200 awhp, with the exception of the MTM k04 setup. I think that one was just over 200 awhp. Anyway, assuming drivetrain loss of 20% (25% for triptronic owners) you're looking at maybe 250 bhp. I'd be happy with that, and it's OEM. Can't go wrong.

Its not all about peak power, its about powerband, and a wider torque curve.
