The car doesnt pass 3.5k rpm, before it runs completely out of fuel making the spark plugs go white. The car can go beyond this rpms but with a big missfire.

    Re: Gt28R problems

Did they flash your existing ECU?

If not, is the ECU they gave you the same p/n as the one that came in your car?

Might want to talk to Tom/A.W.E. He is a member on here and I'm sure he will treat you right..

    Re: Gt28R problems

OK so i just read this http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...light=missfire
his car was doing more or less what my car is doing, difference is that he says his spark plugs where accumulating carbon and mines are going completely white.
how can i know if i also have to change coilpacks and ecu like he did?
    Thanks

To make it a little clearer.. my car has NO faults in the engine, electronics or abs. But it doesnt get enough fuel, so everytime i accelerate and it feels like boost is coming starts to fail...

for all the "magazine" mechanics around this forum. It was the fuel pump.
So if anyone in the future have a similar case, can know where to start from.

glad you got it fixed... sorry I posted earlier and came back today and saw it was the fuel pump.

to be honest though... it could have been a million things and you can't always expect people across the internet to know it with out proper diagnoses.

glad you got it fixed though man...

    Re: Gt28R problems

Dont know what happened, started sounding like a diesel engine and it shot off. I think it popped a rod. I will open it in a few hours and will know what the damage is.
After waiting 2 months for a flash, and having for 5 days a problem. The car started running fine last night. I drove the car with the kit maybe 10 miles, and maybe accelerated 1/2 a mile. And now a blown engine.
When you where driving in 1st gear and pushed the gas the car had trouble to light up the tires, it wasn't fast at all, if the car runs like this when ive fixed it. it will be a huge disappointment for $5k on a kit, that is not that far from my previous car with a $30 mbc and ebay testpipe.

This is a real ignorant comment, since you dont know what has made those engines to blow. Ive heard the storys...
My car had a diferent problem... that wasnt the kit either the turbo.

For future reference, when the symptoms/evidence is that there is not enough fuel as you suspected, do a fuel pressure test. The fuel pressure/pump isn't monitored by the ECU, so there won't be any fault codes for a bad pump or low fuel pressure.

Sorry to hear of the bigger problems, any details yet?

    Re: Gt28R problems

Te oil pump broked. The exhaust cam is grinded as the head as well. Will take the engine down in about 2 hours and will let you know about damages in the block and how many valves are bent.
What happened was that the intake cam stucked, so when the timing belt continued running broke the lip thats inside of the cam gear wich made the car go out of timing and the engine stoped.

I need a head my car is BFB heard that the best is AEB, if someone has one shoot me an offer.

    Re: Gt28R problems

    /\
So, sounds like the oil pump broke and starved the head of oil causing an intake valve to die and the cams to excessively wear?

If I were you, I would replace the internals in the bottom end too. Who knows how much they were starved of oil as well.

A tear-down and inspection will yield further results and confirm any suspicisons. Best of luck. I am sorry to hear of this issue. It is no fun, esp after just getting your new turbo kit onto the car and running.

It really sucks. I saw my turbo today and the inlet had oil and the turbo outlet had lots of oil in all the outlet tubes and some on the intercooler. I imagine that my turbo isnt good.
I have pics but dont know how tu upload.

wich kit do you have and how manys hps?
I would really like to hear your opinions about that turbo, truth is that my car felt like a k04 upgrade. I would like to know to what cars you could compare yours power wise or that you have raced against...
They say a gt28r could beat an e46 m3,,, as my car felt i doubt it, as i doubt the 300hp the kit offers.

Well you didnt really get it running for long in the high rpms where these kits shine.

IE is having a sale right now on their piston/rod combos, just so you know. They have multiple options based on what you end up doing to the bottom end.

Sorry to hear the bad news... so is life sometimes when you put lots of mods on cars.

This is true, the car had difficulty to get to the 7000+rpm, so i was shifting at about 6.5krpms.

Someone here knows if you can put and adjustable fuel pressure regulator on this cars.

The B6 fuel filter contains the FPR. So, you can not install an adjustable FPR unless you retrofit a different fuel filter with a separate FPR. If you go that route you might as well get a return style fuel rail (like the B5) and use the FPR up there. Then run a separate return fuel line back to the tank and a B5 style fuel filter.

However, If you are sticking with the AWE GT28R kit you should not need to touch your stock B6 fuel system. The stock fueling system is more than capable for that turbo kit.

Will those B5 parts fit my B6? I was asking so in the future if i want to run more boost, i can adjust gas as i raise boost watching a wideband gauge.

You can probably get them to fit but you won't be exceeding the fuel system capabilities with a GT28R even on higher boost.

The B6 is different from B5 although anything is possible given the money. O34Motorsports I think has the parts for the conversion.

The B6 controls fueling with the ECU, injector size, pulse-width, etc.

There is a little bit more to increasing power than just boost & fuel. Most people are saving up to just pick a turbo, build their engine/buy parts, & get the software/tuning for their needs... gud luk

reminds me of back in the day when I had my Honda. We were in such a hurry when swapping my cams, we put the cam towers in backwards and blocked the oil passage.

about 20 mins of driving the cams seized up from oil starvation.

sorry to hear about this man... it is always a pain in the ass when modding and doing BAT but hang in there and dont let it shut ya down.

How much boost do you think the gt28r can handle? The GIAC software makes it boost 20psi, do you think 5 more is possible?

That manifold looks interesting, someone here has tested it or know something about its efficiency?

I would really like to hear your opinions about that turbo, truth is that my car felt like a k04 upgrade. I would like to know to what cars you could compare yours power wise or that you have raced against...
They say a gt28r could beat an e46 m3,,, as my car felt i doubt it, as i doubt the 300hp the kit offers.
I havent dyno'ed the car yet, will do so early spring when I go in for my tubular exhaust manifold and I will get back to back dynos to see the results of adding the mani.

I have been in K04 cars and this is no K04. The boost is far less "spikey" and pulls further to the red line than a K04 which suffers from a rather short boost curve like the K03 does.

The story suggests that the original GT28r setup is what ran a 300hp dyno and since then GIAC and AWE found that the tuning on the kit was too aggressive for stock bottoms so they detuned the software. I would be surprised to see 300hp with this kit. I am going on the dyno hoping for 220+ wheel hp which would roughly translate to 275-285 hp at the crank. I am hoping that with the custom manifold (as well as the other supporting mods I already have) I will see the 300/300 that the AWE dyno suggests.

Oh and ... I dont street race No kills.
