simple winter tire question

I have a set of winter tires, two are almost new and two have half tread left, where should i put the new ones, front or back on my quattro A4

Worn tires should go on the front to minimize oversteer. Most people would put the new ones up front, but you run the risk of having the rear end slide out from under you if you had to turn (and brake) quickly.............
