My buddy had one that was pretty sick, I installed all of the parts on them, not to hard to work on, nothing worse than an audi. It was pretty fast too, type s supercharged with pulleys, intake exhaust, etc etc. It was a nice car, but not for me.....to small I'm huge, to be honest though, they have alot of interior space for being a small car, I was really surprised. I def. give them a thumbs up though

I absolutely love them. I used to work at a company that made performance parts for Minis and had a chance to drive some really impressive cars. They are very competent and fun cars stock and can be made even better with the addition of some very basic mods.

Hate the interior materials, fake hood scoop, stock seats and dont really think they make that much power for $$$ invested. I doubt you will get anywhere close to 32/38 mpg when modded.

It'll be funnier when the homo driving the gay mini cooper takes a turn at a speed our Audi's would understeer into a telephone pole at. They are lil go carts and one of the only FWD drive cars I would rock.

Every car I've owner got significantly greater mpg not only stock, but after some performance "goodies" were installed as well... it's mainly how you drive it.

For example:
I used to average ~26mpg combined in the audi when it was completely stock about two years ago. After installing the borla turboback, giac ecu, and intake it jumped to ~31mpg average and I've averaged higher than 35mpg more than a handful of times which is considerably higher than its "rated" for (I know the ratings are based off of emissions rather than real-world mileage but for the sake of argument we're comparing EPA estimated mpg figures). Engines are essentially air pumps; decreasing restriction increases efficiency and allows it to breathe easier so it doesn't have to work as hard to do the same work as before

The Mini Cooper S has come both supercharged and turbocharged. The 2002-06 body style, the R53, was supercharged and made 163hp or 168hp depending on the model year. The 07+ body style, the R56, is turbocharged.

Actually the hood scoop is functional. The supercharged cars have a top mount intercooler, which is fed air by the hood scoop. The scoop on the turbocharged cars started out being non-functional, but BMW opened up the mesh in the material to let air in and help cool down some excessively high under hood temps.



Here is my question to everyone claiming the Mini sucks because its FWD: Have you driven one? They are absolutely phenomenal to drive. After my first test drive in a MINI I walked laughing because I had so much fun. I was taking 30mph turns at over 75 mph with the salesman saying "is that all you got? the car can take more". Go take one out on some backroads and then let us know what you think.

my buddy has a modded mini cooper, all he has is lowering springs and that thing fucking rips through turns. defiantly one of the most fun cars ive been in.

I think minis are pretty sweet and have some potential. Stock they are a little under powered.
