    2000 s4 problem

    i just bought a 2000 s4 two days ago with 130k that drove great at least for the first day i drove it, yesterday i was just driving home from school and i noticed that every once in a while i hear a strong grind coming from the motor, also i smell a strong burning smell and when i pop the hood and look in the back i can see small waves of blue smoke and smell the burn strongly. any ideas?

    Blue smoke woo hoo your turbos are gone buddy. Sorry did you buy from a dealer or private seller? Go return it.

    they seem to spool up great still but i guess they are going, i did buy it from a dealer, luckily its still under warranty so maybe ill get two new turbos out of it

    You better hope you get new turbos because those turbos are fried. Blue smoke is never good my friend.

    i hope they really check into it though the salesman assured me that the mechanics check over everything and that there was nothing wrong with it, the check engine light is on too i hope it has to do with what i mentioned and not something else

    Stupid dealer selling a S4 with a warranty that has bad turbos.........he should have just whole saled it at the auction or something......go take him for some Ko4's

    You would also need to put in money outta your own pocket. Because if they do replace your turbos its gonna be turbos and turbo feedline if there smart enough.

    Does it still spool up and everything? Smoke out of the exhaust?

    I remember when I got my s4, tried to shut the car off and something kept going and grinding. Turns out the damn starter kept going, and soon left me stranded! hahaha

    it still spools up fine, no smoke out of the exhaust i just popped the hood and stuck my head back there and smelled a burning and i could see little waves of blue smoke when i backed up

    $9800, its pretty much mint interior and exterior, clean carfax, new tires, timing belt and water pump was changed.

    Double negative. If they're generous, they'll give you the credit for the KO3's and you take it and run or find a cool shop that will install KO4's (under the radar) and pay the difference. Otherwise, you can definitely expect them to take the low road (read: cheap) and give you KO3's.

    Go return it and just take the over the payments on mines. Mines have the timing belt done turbos are in great shape and its a stage 2+ i owe 13k and it has h&r coilovers axles were replace and cv boots i dont even want no money just take the payment over. It has 133k miles on it

    It's probably your valve cover gaskets that are leaking oil onto the manifold and it is wafting up the back of the engine. Turbos going bad will not show you without a sound out the exhaust (whistling) or oil out the pipes. Good luck.

    ^^^that happens extremely often, its happening to mine right now.

    but there is no grinding sound associated with it.
    Buy tools, not labor....

    yeh but the grinding sound could be the sound from so much shaft play in the turbo(s) plus your see blue smoke so

    Or, it could be two seperate issues. I think we need a better explanation of "strong grind".

    hard to explain i just notice it at random times lasts for about 2 seconds. I just got my car scanned for the check engine light and the code P1113 came up (fuel/air metering) was what it said. Could this be an air leak?

    You should check more into it. It could be the VCG leaking or the cam chain seal leaking onto the exhaust and making it smoke. With the miles you have on the car if the turbos havent been replaced they will go out soon if they havent already. Take it back to the dealer and have them check into it.

    Your check engine is for the MAF sensor. The sensor that is located on the air hose going into the air box.

    +1 for that idea....exactly what I ended up doing after 5 months of fighting with the dealership while they were "repairing" my car, in reality they ended up causing 2800$ worth of repairs that needed to be taken care of on top of the turbos/intercoolers. I took the 6g they were charging me, and the 2800$ and bought k04s and had a buddy help me put it all in

    Go take your car to an audi dealership have them take a look at it diagnose your problems then get an est for the repairs they tell you to get. take it back to the dealer you bought it from and go from there, Id tell your dealer you obviously dont want them to work on your car if they hadnt taken care of the repairs already or knew they existed.

    my check engine light turned off yesterday and hasnt come on since. should i still send it back to the dealer to get the (P1113) code checked out or can they only do something if the check engine light is still on

    If my mind serves me correct P1113 is a Bank 1 Sensor 1 o2 sensor code.

    But i could be wrong.

    yeah thats right but could i just tell them that i scanned the code and it was P1113 and they should check it out or can they not do anything because the check engine light is gone

    1 Fault Found:
    17539 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor: B2 S1: Internal Resistance too High
    P1131 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent


    i thought that was the o2 sensor fault code... thats what i got when i vagged my car the other day... it was a hidden code.
