Just installed a Forge DV and...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
...Theres no sound. I don't get it.. Is it supposed to sound the same as stock? My friends A4 has the same one and it makes a nice sound when he realeses the throttle.

I guess this is 120$ down the drain... and I broke my OEM DV when I took it out too so I'm stuck with this one.

Re: Just installed a Forge DV and...

which color spring is in it, there are different tentions and the one you installed may have a spring that is too strong to allow proper function, I think the range is as follows (from memory)
    blue 23-25lbs boost
    green 15-20 ish
    yellow 8-9 approx

see this first, then you can change the filter you have, but this may be the issue

Re: Just installed a Forge DV and...

Well I checked on the paper that was included in the box and I fitted the right color spring for my boost. Assuming I run 9 - 12 PSI Stock. It cannot be installed in reverse? Theres a neck that is longer, a shorter one a small "nipple" for the vaccum. I installed the long neck facing downwards, the short neck facing the driver side of the car and the vaccum on the right side.

Well, air intakes don't give anything to these cars so I won't spend anything on that. Apparently only chipping it will make it sound louder..

Thing is I tried the 5 hour test from REVO and I wasn't impressed at ALL. Everyone on here says it becomes a new car and everything. I guess I set my hopes too high because I really wasn't impressed and decided to not do it right away.

Re: Just installed a Forge DV and...

I installed that same DV but along with Revo. When my friend and I took a ride after installing it, I could hear and feel noticeable differences. Sometimes I dont really hear the effects of the DV, but other times I do. Like someone mentioned, there is a huge difference between using it on stock vs chipped car.

Here is what I would do if I were you:
    1. Try another Revo dealer, maybe he did not put you the right software or something did not go right with the trial. The difference between Revo chipped and stock should be like driving 2 totally different cars. One on steroids and the other all natural.

    2. Make sure there are no boost leaks.

    3. Try again.

I have a stock DV if you want to use it send me a PM.

Re: Just installed a Forge DV and...

Its not money down the drain - you can hold more boost now with no worries, also if its just a DV and not a hybrid or a full BOV then you won't hear the sound unless you do a K&N filter intake (basically put a cone filter on your MAF, obviously with a heatshield.) Then you'll get the sound. I got ALOT more sound when I didnt have the heatshield at first because I didnt make it yet, but i'm not gonna take it off and heatsoak just for sound lol you can still hear it just not as loud with a heatshield.

I was looking on youtube last night and I checked out a few videos with 1.8Ts and Forge 007s and they all made the pshhht sound. I'm not talking STI loud pshht but just something you can hear. In all the videos it's making a sound, probably all chipped too but mine just doesn't make a sound at ALL. lolll For now, it's for sound, I know it's my rice side but it's just hilarious seeing peoples faces when it makes the sound.

If you bought it for the sound then you need to trade in your car for a civic.

Remove the entire air box all the way to the turbo. That should give you the sound your looking for

Ok here are things you can do:

    1.) chip it with 1+
    2.) buy a bov
3.) get a cold air intake

easiest and cheapest way to get sound?

even a TP should help. Cause i have a TP and nothing else except for a simota intake (which i plan to replace for the stock airbox) and i have a hyperboost DV. And i can hear my DV make what one of my friends referred to as a "breathing" noise, and if i hold the gas down a little more and build up more boost it gets louder. It's definitely noticable, and in comparison to my friends passat wagon 1.8t, i can't hear anything in his car at all.

So you guys are saying I should install it backwards?! Isn't it going to damage anything or give me a CEL?

Anyhow, I am not going any further than this... I'll just Unitronic chip it and thats it. Again, I don't want BIG sound just a small "pshhht" when the car is pushed. I just came back driving my friends car and when he is driving normally, there is not sound whatsoever only on hard driving and thats exactly what I am looking for because the sound gets annoying if its going to be there every time you let off the gas.

Wherever. Mine is up near the top plugged directly in to the turbo inlet pipe. Makes for easy access to service the valve or flip it from normal to reverse depending on my mood or how many high school kids will be wherever I'm going, lol.

When I put my forge splitter on my car it was otherwise stock and I could barely hear it. It sounded good when I was tuning it but once I put the belly pan back on it was bye bye sound. Since I got mine chipped though it sounds much better, especially from second to third. If you want more sound and a little performance, get a carbonio. If you want more performance and a little sound get it chipped. Or just rip off all the plastic under your car.

this is directly from Forge's installation PDF:

Although the valve can be fitted
    in either orientation, I would
suggest that you fit it, THE
    SAME WAY ROUND AS THE
    ORIGINAL BOSCH VALVE.
    Recent tests have proven this
    gives a far quieter operation.
