    door light issue

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Seems like everybody had or still have that problem but there is not an actually solution to it. I've searched everywhere. When i open front passenger door there is no indication that its open, no door lights nor the interior lights are working, cluster doesnt even say that door is open. Other three doors are working fine. How can i fix that? i found somewhere that i have to replace entire locking mechanism but why if it locks the door, gotta be some kind of wiring to sensor or something else is wrong. Any ideas??

    Re: door light issue

I know this won't help at all, but I have the same problem. Only mine is with the driver door. The wierd thing is that it started immediately after I took my car to audi to have the window regulator and gangswitch replaced. So I think my tech broke it.

i've seen a thread on this somewhere... the sensor is actually inside of the locking mechanism so i think it'll be a bitch to fix...

    Re: door light issue

did you ever have any work done to that door before? Like I said I took it to the dealer for a window regulator, then I went back for the door light, turns out one of the connectors just wasn't hooked up. problem solved.

    Re: door light issue

it seems like your passenger side door control module is bad. door control module send operation information to central locking module. If you want to test the door control module i would uninstall it from passenger side & swap it out with driver side door control module. If driver side doesn't work you know it's the door control module

I guess I'm bringing this thread back from the dead...but has anyone found a solution for this?

Last night the sensor for my pass side door apparently stopped working.
Drove half way home with the passenger side door half way closed.

    Re: door light issue

This is similar to the MKIV door latch microswitch issue. Over time, heat and cold cycles, and vibrations, the solder points on the microswitch crack and fail, and the entire latch assembly needs replaced, or you can open it up and re-solder all the points on the microswitch.

    Re: door light issue

yep i had this problem in my audi TT. its a common problem in the TTs and i would imagine it happens in VWs too... the door switch is in the latch assembly in the TT and you have to replace the entire latch assembly to fix it. someone on audiworld once posted a DIY fix using a radio-shack microswitch but it seemed way too complicated for me to tackle it.... i dont know about the A4 yet though.

    Re: door light issue

Yea for the search function!! Can you guys tell me if my problem is similar to the OP's. when you open the doors there are two lights that should light up (botton and then a safety one up top) all the doors do this except my drivers door. Now i have the problem that if i lock the doors, i don't get the chirp and all my interior lights will stay on and the timer doesn't shut them off. I don't have any door open indicator on my DIS. I do have the code for drivers door control module not responsive. Any help much appreciative and can someone tell me where I can find the door control module? I ask because if I squeeze the wires in the door jam, sometimes the door lights will flicker and also my window switches don't work with the one click down/up, even if i reset it???
