    headlight auto setting

What are the things needed to have the car's headlight turn off by itself after you turn it off and walk away with it?
obviously the switch is one of them, but what else? (relays, wiring, programming the ecu, etc)

He means is there a timer feature for the headlights for after you lock the car and walk away, that they turn off on their own.

yeah, some cars have the homing feature ..forgot which models did

i know mine does...the fogs turn on when you unlock the car, and then when you lock it..they turn off after a while if your headlights have been on

    Re: headlight auto setting

It's the "Coming Home" feature that was available to those cars that had the Lighting package (Xenons). Only available on the 2004+ models.

It also ties into the "Auto" headlight feature - to have them come on/off based on outside light conditions. That means you need a new light switch, the little on/off switch for the "Coming Home" feature, a light sensor that's near the center of the dash (up by the windshield), and probably some other items (relays, circuit board?).

    Re: headlight auto setting

You can use a timed relay, 30-90 seconds whereby you tap power directly from a 12v constant source, and also tap into the headlight Wire.

You will have to also tap into your alarm "armed" wire to trigger the whole event.

This means though, that you will have the lights turn on for the preset amount of time regardless of whether you have your lights on or not, prior to shutting down.

Though, this leads me to believe that you could probably tap into the headlight switch from the headlight "on" position.
