    Good Customer service from Achtuning

I learned of them from this site and through you guys, so thought it fair to post that i had great Customer service experience from this business. i just had the worst customer service experience from another company, so it really makes you appreciate the good ones!

Knowledgeable, very communicative, (nearly immediate email response) and email of all shipping info and invoice docs. All expected. But the main thing though was that I travel a lot and they were very accommodating to place my shipment on hold (more than once) until I was able to return home. Anyway, Props to them across the board.

My experience was actually negative. I made a call to them to inquire about a solution for lowering my 2009 Audi A4 3/4" and was sold a product that did not do this (much more significant lowering). The first delivery I received was missing parts within the suspension kit (rear springs) which they eventually “over nighted” directly to the shop where my car was apart. After speaking directly to the manufacturer I have strong suspicions that they sent me the wrong parts (no way of verifying so it is solely a suspicion). I was finally able to get my money back for the product (which apparently is not standard since they usually charge a 20% restocking fee and won't refund shipping) but still incurred significant labor cost (based on their wrong technical advice). They put the blame on the manufacturer which I found to be very unprofessional for a sales organization. My request was for an additional refund to cover part of the labor cost which I thought was fair considering I was sold the wrong product for my needs. The owner was not accommodating and in fact abrasive and kept putting the blame on me and the manufacturer. Bad business in my opinion considering I will probably end up spending another $5K in relevant products in the next few weeks (just not with them). If you choose to do business with them, do not rely on their technical expertise and make sure to do research on your own before purchasing anything. I work for a sales organization as well and we stand behind both our products and technical advice and have compensated customers in past for cost incurred due to our inaccurate recommendations (everyone makes mistakes; it is the ability to admit and fix it which in my opinion defines you). That’s my two cents….

Now I don't know much about your situation but from reading you posted, I got that:

You did no research to what you wanted and relied solely on their advice.
They sent you the product they advised and it lowered significantly more (downside) and didn't have the rear springs (another downside)
They overnighted you the rear springs (not something a normal company would do)
Once you returned them they DID NOT charge you the 20% re-stocking fee (another good thing for customer service) AND you got shipping costs?!
Yet you wanted them to pay a percentage of your labour...

I would say they did a decent job of trying to help you.. I know when I got something mis-shipped from Cali to me in Vancouver, BC.. it took 3 weeks to get my shock that the company "forgot" to put in the box... so overnight seems pretty nice to me.

Again, this isn't something personal. Just giving my opinion to what you posted.

I give a +1 for the parts I've gotten from AchTuning.

Well some of that is true, but it didn't go down quite like that. Yes, Sam asked for a kit that would lower his car about .75 and we recommended doing a coil over suspension for that would give him the most options as they are adjustable in height (manufacturer states .75"-1.8"). After receiving his kit' the installer noticed that the helper springs for the front were not included in the box. Sam gave us a call, we next- day aired the parts to his installer. It wasn't "eventually," it was the same day we were notified of the error. Later in the week, Sam called and stated the car was way to low in the rear, much lower than the .75" he wanted. Our sales dept asked him to take a picture of the rear spring perch adjuster (they adjust up and down to adjust ride height). After getting the pictures we indicated to Sam that the adjusters were only adjusted to 50% of the deck height of the perch and that it could actually be threaded aprox 15mm higher than the perch top. This definetly should have take him to his expected ride height. I don't know if he ever did this; he had advice from his installer, didn't like the idea, and from what I gather from the conversation, Sam told them to take it off and put stock back on. Next, we get a call asking for a return authorization and a full refund.

In the time we were waiting for him to ship back the kit, we had the opportunity to install the same kit in the identical car to Sam's. We adjusted the kit to 10mm above the perch in the rear and the car sat at 1" ,lowering in the rear.
Sam's decision to remove them without giving us the opportunity to address the issue further was premature. There definitely was more than one way to remedy issue.

We received a subsequent call from Sam, asking us to refund his labor which didn't go so well. We seamed to be going round and round with each other for more than 40minutes. I explained that it wasn't our policy to refund labor, if he felt that the product didn't meet the manufactures statements he could call them . It is my opinion the problem was fixable and neither Achtuning nor the manufacturer were given the opportunity to remedy the issue . The call abruptly ended when when Sam decided to try and use the blackmail approach. Sam stated that if I didn't refund him more money he would post bad reviews about us all over the Internet. My reply; I don't care what you say as long as it is true and factual we would be happy to post a rebuttal if his post were misleading in any way. Since then, Sam has posted this same story just about everywhere applicable and many not to be as destructive to as possible . I could easily be as vindictive as he has and reply to them with all his credit information but that just wouldn't be the right thing to do. Sadly tantrums never work when you are a child. Clearly they work even less when your a adult.
