    Went to etown today, had 9 gallons of 93 and 2.4 gallons of 100. And finnally took all my shit out of the trunk!





    And No, I didn't do this downhill. Did this one nice and smooth jersey route 9 roads. The 1/4 mile time is impressive considering the car has a Stock Clutch. My old 98.5 managed a 14.6 @ 90mph with a 1.9 60', I figure I would manage at least a 14.4-14.5 in this car if not faster had I been able to launch the car.



    3232lbs without me in the car, 3374 with me in the car. Which is quite surprising seeing this is about the same my old car weighed, where the old car was pre-facelift.


    All the car has is: 3" custom test pipe, 3" in/out magnaflow resonator and muffler. Cone filter, SSP custom tune, Forge 007 running red spring, MBC @ 21psi, APR inlet hose, EVAP simplification mod, 034 differential mount. And that's it (other than S4 brakes which are also a hell of a lot heavier)

    I feel it too, its like small interruptions in the rev band. Last time I checked it was tightened down, I dunno wth, ill recheck it though.

    Got a diy? is there any disadvantage to doing this? Is it reversible? I plan to run the 2.0 35r setup only off the map. I'll log it tommorow.

    Because 1.9 60' would take a clutch drop, thats what my old car did on a spec stage 2.

    throttle cut is usual a result from overboosting. You can turn down the boost, or clamp your maf with a diode. It basically tricks the ecu what boost pressure the map is sensing. It will sense the boost pressure till 17 psi if you use a 4.7v diode, then that is the max the sensor is gonna send to the ECU. At this point you are going WOT anyways so its not really necessary for the ecu to rely on the map sensor.

    Could also be closing from too high of an injector duty cycle...

    I dont think thats the issue seeing that plenty of other people have been able to max out the injectors on a K03 without the ecu closing the throttle because of duty cycle.

    Plus for the last 8 years we all know that running more then 21psi on a dbw car makes the ecu close the throttle. Maxing out the maf also makes the ecu close the throttle, but thats not the issue either since the max is 215 and he isn't anywhere near that.


    BTW 3 different people with quattro K03's have ran 14.3 at 95-97 mph without the throttle closing.

    Probably isn't but I was just throwing out a random thought since OP didn't provide any information about boost, etc. Plus, I figured his "custom tune" wouldn't cause him to hit a soft limp... Usually, too high of boost that causes throttle cut but not full on limp mode throws a DTC for too high of boost...

    Actually he did post that info.

    Well that really depends on what boost level the ecu is tuned for. If his chip is tuned for 20-21psi he will not get a deviation code when the throttle closes since there is no deviation because the map sensor cant read higher then what the chip is tuned for already.

    Well his throttle might only be closing during his 1 gear pulls since this condition will have a higher engine load which will cause a big boost spike and the MBC isn't helping either since they tend to allow big boost spikes. This isn't as much of an issue when drag racing since there is less load, so his throttle might not have closed during his runs at the track and his 92 mph traps suggest that the ecu was not closing the throttle at all.

    Well the throttle is closing so that is keeping the car from moving as much air when he did the log, that was not an issue while the car was at the track.

    Actually the car was doing the same thing on the track.

    I logged the car right after the track. I did that run in 3rd gear. The boost doesn't feel smooth, feels almost intermittent. I did a log of 115 and 003 like Poopie asked me to. I did not have enough room to do a full 3rd gear log, hence I only just got up to 6300rpm or so.

    there is your problem. Your ecu is seeing a huge deviation in spec boost and actual boost and closes the throttle to try and reduce the boost. But since you have a MBC you are sustaining that boost while your ecu is getting pissed. Use a 4.7v zener diode and clamp your map sensor.

    You don't have a map to begin with on your car.

    You have to have a MAF in an aeb, doesn't change the fact that we already have a tune for an aeb motor as well. I personally haven't tested it, but Im sure its as potent as my file.

    Good run. I'm really curious what my car will do for a CAPS time. I need to actually log it, maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

    Sounds about like my last trip to the track. I FILLED up 10 gal 93 oct and 3 gal E85. Weighed in at 3383 lbs with driver(190lbs), shit out of trunk and said amount of fuel.

    I could do better, and with some W/M I know I could pick up some time.

    So I am not going to be doing the diode mod, Greg @ SSP has the ability to change the boost settings within the Ecu, hence the throttle will not close shut on me.

    That was my first <2.0 60' time too.

    Just ran my very first CAPS run. 6.85 sec isn't too bad.
    Heat soaked immediately after that pull I did a 7.22 sec pull
