Brakes and Pads worn...what to do.

So my brakes are shot....thinking bout having the dealer redo them with stock parts so how much would that cost? Rotor + pads that is? (out of warranty)

Reason why I ask is because the widebody happens in december and after that I will be either going RS4 or some other BBK...
    someone help!

probably would be cheaper if you go with aftermarket rotors and pads. and then find a local tuner to install them if you can't do it yourself. stealership ftl

I'm pretty sure the price is through the roof. Why do you want stock parts so bad?

    check www.importrp.com

they have hawk pads and axxis for pretty cheap. if your rotors aren't warped, or grooved, you may only need to change your pads. shouldn't be much more than 100 bucks for both fronts and rears. changing pads is pretty easy. if you're scared, check your local area section of this forum to see if someone can help you out.

    ha, you're in washington dc.

there's a local guy who's been offering his wrenching services for pretty cheap. you can ask him how much he'll charge. otherwise, if you have a garage, i'll be down for helping you out for some pizza and beer.

Re: Brakes and Pads worn...what to do.

well, the importrp link i sent you also has rotors. you can also check ecs tuning, and vivid as they have some rotor options that are reasonably priced. gsg also has their powdercoated rotors/pads deal going on as well. hawk pads are really popular, but i've also been pretty happy with axxis deluxe pads. they're much cheaper, they work great for regular street and spirited driving, and they're low dust, so your wheels won't look like satan's butthole after a week. but if you plan on doing some track driving or autocrossing, i'd shell out the extra for the hawk.

when painting calipers, i'd suggest going with some high temp primer, and some high temp paint. give yourself a lot of time. if you try to rush it, it is almost guaranteed to look like crap within a year.

if you can spare an extra 100 bucks. i also highly recommend getting some stainless steel brakelines. it makes a world of a difference, and really improves your pedal feel and improves the responsiveness of your brakes.

you could always get the SPP or GSG ones in the group buy forum. I got the SPP ones from Adam and am very satisfied. Then I bought Hawk HPS pads and SS lines from ECStuning.

Re: Brakes and Pads worn...what to do.

For front pads and rotors on my B7 the dealer quoted me $550.00.

I am looking into doing it myself and ordering aftermarket stuff. I've changed them on my previous cars so now I just have to decide what brands to get.
