Confused about upgrading...

Hey guys so ive saved up a bit and since Xmas is rolling around hpefully i will be getting some extra money and should have around $500-$600 to upgrade.

Now im confused as should i upgrade more on the performance end (Exhaust, Piggies) or suspension (maybe sport springs to lower the car, H & R Sway bars) etc.?

got any ideas???

ps. Im already stage 1 with giac x, 710n and samco tbb so i dont know whats next.

i see you live in NJ. i would say, keep saving it, unless you need to replace something, and wait until spring to buy it when you dont have to worry about your car being either too low, or a new exhaust getting tattered by bad roads and salt.

Just a thought.

if i were you man, i'd look into piggies and maybe searching the classifieds for some good prices on suspension. having more flow in the downpipes really makes a HP difference you will feel and also give the car a great sound. I have piggies, and then also have the main cats cut out and have test pipes welded in. sounds awesome! .

seems like the piggies are a big hit!! I dont know its tempting to do, i got one guy thats willing to trade me his piggies for my stock dp's cause hes selling the car and im wondering if there is anything wrong with them??

Im probably gonna wait until spring to do the exhaust unless an awesome deal on a borla pops up (my favorite sounding exhaust besides awe twin's).

I saw that, no that is a good deal. He is a reputable member on here. You will really like the difference.

"piggies" means different things ... (VAST started using it) -- can mean totally gutted pipes (hence the "free" reference) or can mean gutted pre-cats and high flow cats by VAST in your OEM piping (trade-in)

Vast uses new OEM 400 cell Leistritz cats. Being 400 cell they are already high flow, so they have no reason to install anything else in there. Generally Piggies are just stock dp's with the primary cat gutted.

If you know how to weld then i vote for doing piggies and a custom exhaust. It could be done for far less than $600 and will free up a good bit of power. If you want to go suspension i would get a good spring/shock combo to start with...i love my Bilstein/Vogtland setup but i dont think you could get the springs and struts for $600. You could do what i did and get the springs first then go back and add the struts when you have the money. People say that you shouldnt do this, but my stock struts handled it fine and were much more comfortable on the streets than the bilsteins(obviously lol). However, i would just save up and get the springs and struts(or full co's) and the Stern adjustable control arms all at once. That way you could get a proper alignment to really bring out the suspensions potential and you wont burn through tires every couple of months lol.

Trust me man...ive been tuning cars since 00. Its always better to keep saving and do things right the first time around. Good luck and enjoy the new power/handling with your new mods!

damn man i think im gonna trade for the piggies and then just hook that up to the stock suspension for winter then when springs rolls around possibly an exhaust and hopefully suspension (im gonna try to squeeze H&R Sways out of my Gma for xmas)!!

save your money for suspension until spring.. don't lower the car or get a stiffer suspension for this winter! do piggies and a cheap or custom catback... if you do the isntall yourself you're in the ballpark of 5-600 dollars!

The fitment is hit or miss... My buddy has this on his car and still cannot fix the exhaust leak, but its up to you. if you need install done on that SSP Tuning is great for getting work done.

If the Piggies are a trade... or a wash...then do it.... The turbos will spool sooner than with stock (all 4 cats) down pipes.
