    Strange sound on deceleration

    There's a knocking. I can't locate it, but seems to be coming from the motor/tranny area. When the clutch is in, the noise is is made as the revs drop, or when my foot is off the pedals, car in gear (decelerating). I originally thought it was a control arm, but is definitely motor/tranny dependent.

    The car does have a LWFW, but I've never heard this before. Motor mount? Flywheel? I'm really at a loss here....

    Check to make sure your lug nuts are tight. I had a that happen on an old car.

    put on lift or stands and go around trying to reproduce the sound by hand

    Throwout bearing? mine was making noise and just went out. When i press the pedal it would have a whine.

    The fact that the sound remains whether or not the clutch is in or out would lead me towards parts that are attached to the wheels first.
