    Audi drive select on s5

I heard from the audi dealership if you add this option you will not be able to lower the s5.
    Is it true or not.

From what I've read, if you are going to add coilovers then it is a waste to buy that system/option because it disables it. (I could be wrong though)

Re: Audi drive select on s5

i think it's true that you cannot lower the car with coilovers if you have drive select, because drive select dynamically changes the dampening of the shocks.

it may be possible you could lower with springs, but i'm not even sure about that.

Re: Audi drive select on s5

You can lower the S5 which has the Audi Drive Select system.

The S5 which is sold in Japan has the ADS, and it's a standard equipment.

If you wanna change just springs, you can install them like the H&R.
You can use the ADS and will not get any warning message on the DIS.

If you wanna change coilovers, you can install them also, but it's difficult a little bit
because a shop who will install them needs some knowledge of the ADS.
In Japan, only a shop can install coilovers to S5 which has the ADS.
They kill just the function of the shocks, so other ADS functions like the handling and the engine still work.
You'll not get any warning message.

    Sorry about my poor explanation

All S5s on this photo have the ADS system.

^^ very good point. it's not that it's not possible to do, you just can't use the drive select anymore if you replace the shocks...

The Audi Drive Select changes 4 thigs.
    #1.the dampering of the shocks
    #2.the characteristic of the steering
    #3.the characteristic of the transmission
    #4.the characteristic of the engine

If you replace the coilovers, you can't change dampering of the shocks,
but still you can change other 3 things which are #2-#4 by useing the ADS.

I think that will depend on the shop which has knowledge of the ADS.

Yeah but the most noicable aspect of the Drive Select is the shock dampering. If you get it standard that's one thing but I don't see the point of getting an expensive option only to do a mod which will render it's main function useless.

KiloByte, is this question with me?

I think if I want to lower the S5, I should not get the Audi Drive Select actually,
but I can't chose the S5 without the ADS because the ADS is standard equipment in Japan.
That's why I do those things if I want to lower.

Maybe you guys can get the S5 without the ADS in America, right?

I can't get your point a little bit , so maybe this may not be an answer you want

Re: Audi drive select on s5

I put my order in for a s5 in white with the red int. at end of july, the audi dealership told me, I still have time to change any option. I guess my best bet is to remove the ADS option so I can lower the car without any problems.

^^ Yes and save your $2900 for coilovers. The only suspension mod to a car with ADS is springs only. You're just wasting your money otherwise.

Just a note, as you you said #1 is cancelled out by getting coilovers. #3 is not applicable to 6MT cars. And #4 is just a change in throttle position sensor sensitivity, which can be had for $300 by getting the Sprint Booster.

The only ADS feature not replicable as far as I know is #2, the adjustment of the steering feel.

Question Re: Audi drive select on s5

On the topic of ADS, does anyone know if any of the ECU chipping will work with the ADS? I have a B8 Avant Prestige with ADS, Sports Package (and some other toys) and reached out to Stasis repeatedly but have not gotten a response. Will it interfere with ADS? Would be neat to map it to the Individual setting only, leaving Comfort, Auto and Dynamic intact. Has anyone experience with ADS and chipping?
