    Disable Seat Belt Chime

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I saw this in the sticky thread. However, I don't understand what it means or how I would go about disabling the chime. Do I need extra parts or something?

    Can someone please explain?

    Disable Seatbelt Chime

    * Module 17 (Instruments), recode to ###Z1, where:

    Z = Warning Type
    0 – Disabled
1 – Europe NCAP – Visual indicator always on, audio chime for 91 seconds active
2 – USA & Canada NAR Old – Visual indicator & audio chime for 6 seconds at startup
3 – USA & Canada NAR New – Visual indicator on, audio chime every 30 seconds
4 – Europe NCAP including front passenger seat
5 – USA & Canada NAR Old including front passenger seat
6 – USA & Canada NAR New including front passenger seat (North American B7 default)

NOTE - All Module 17 recodes can be combined and done together. e.g. To do both above, recode to ??#Z1

I asked the dealer to do this. They told me they cant delete safety features, go figure! Easily the most annoying thing about the car. That and the overhead rattle in the dome light.

Wow, what if he believed you dude? Anyways you need to connect and OBDII cable (vag-com) into your car and just change some numbers.. It explains it with detail in that thread you read.

What software versions did you guys use? The Ross-Tech software that i was using was a trial version and didn't allow me to change the seatbelt chime, amongst a few other things I wanted. I only got the euro lights and keyless auto window up/down.

Anyone know where I can get a full version of Ross-Tech or is it the cable that I bought, being the $20 version, is not able to do this?

seatbelts save lives! that being said, i cut out a seatbelt buckle shaped piece of cardboard and threw it in there. cheap, fast, but temporary.
VW Touareg V10 TDI. Don't mess.

    Past: Stg. 2+ B7 2.0T, B6 A4 1.8T, Allroad 2.7T 6spd (<-monster), Chevys, Jeeps, and a Nissan.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you, Body kits and decals are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.

Hmm I may have to try this.... I'm moving next weekend, and I'll have the back seat loaded along with the front passenger seat since I'll use it for packing too. Don't know why, but I'd just rather not have to buckle the other 4 seats since no one else will actually be in the car.
