im far from a car noob i just want to say that first. I love my a4 2001. Just got it a week ago however, I’m having some problems with the car. And i have been searching absorbing and using the search function
    1. My check engine light went on the code is P0172
    2. My oil light is on, i figured the previous owner did not change the oil, got an oil change today and it's still there, also replaced the brittle oil dipstick tube, thinking it might be that, did not help.
    3. My coolant light is on along with the oil light in the self diagnose screen. I added more coolant today just to top it off. The problem persists.

Anyone have any solutions for any of these things?

It's in the owners manual too...
    and google:
    • Turn off the ignition
    • Press and hold the button on the left side of the display while turning the ignition on
    • Service OIL will be displayed
    • Pull out the button on the right side of the display until the service prompt is cleared
    • The display should now read ---

Is it reminding you to service the car or is the actual oil pressure light on?

As for P0172, according to the Bentley that is "Fuel Trim, Bank 1 System too Rich".

Check the plug on the bottom of the coolant bottle to see if the sensors plugged in... Just remove the 3 screws hold it in and just flip it over

The last time i got an oil change, they knocked my coolant sensor off the bottom of the expansion tank and the light came on. I just reached under and plugged it back in, problem solved. Didn't have to take the tank off, it was easy to reach.

You sure this car wasn't standing for a while before you bought it...?
Oil could be all sludged, just changing it wouldn't help much at all.

For his sake let's hope that's not the issue.
