Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

Im running at about 11 to 1. This is on a 20-22psi setting... This makes me excited as I was afraid of running lean when I ran 100 octane and turned up the boost..

This is APR stage 3 with test pipe, borla exhaust, cone intake, FMIC, and EBC.

Really feels strong... In fact I surprised my dad when we were getting some readouts to try and tune his 944 turbo (trying to get baselines for A/F ratios when letting off gas and returning to idle and such).

I still havent uploaded my old Gtech graphs, but I know I picked up at least 25hp. I cant wait to get this car running meth....

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

Alright did some pulls on the Gtech, first one and last one didnt feel very good, middle one felt about right, not the best though.

I'll get more runs in next week and I'll throw 100 octane in it and see what all I can muster out of this.

I also tried to do some 0-60 runs, but they failed misserably.. Good old crappy driver with rock hard tires.

Mike, I cant find my old runs, but the power does seem to taper off a little (also I have a bit of a hickup in the middle rpm's... Need to figure out why..) However my top end HP is WAY up top! JUST like I said. It loves being thrown all the way up there.

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

BTW this new Gtech reads about 10% lower than the old Gtechs, and about 10% lower than actual dyno results do to wind factor and other things. So Im very curious to see what it'll do on an actual dyno run.

Hickup at 5000-5700? Might want to get some Vagcom logs if possible.

Any logworks graphs from the LM-1 logs?

Nope I didnt record the graphs, had my dad watch them..

Thats the next step. Tune in on monday.

What are you thinking, its pulling timing?

I've had it give me a "misfire cylinder 4" code, but it was from a detonation a while ago.

Missing the fact that the g-tech data doesn't mean much.

Well, your missing the fact that first, those were not launches, they were failed attempts at launches, I bogged, and I took a long time to shift (1/2 second or more) AND I shifted into 3rd to get 0-60's when on my other wheels I stay in second and ride it out to the limiter.

Next as I mentioned above the first and the last runs didnt feel right, something was wrong with either my boost setting of the ECU program.

Also those numbers were NOT crank they were AWHP + aerodynamic loss + the new Gtech reads low.

@233HP on the Gtech, add about 10% for Gtech loss, then what is it 25% for AWD loss? That brings me up to 320 crank HP on 91 w/ a 93 octane file.

Keep in mind im not a drag racer and im still trying to figure out how to launch this car properly..

Mike do you know this from fact? Do you have a Cig lighter in your car? Whens the next time your going to the drags? Which one is it?

I'll gladly let you test it out and make your own conclusion... The Gtech has been tested to be very accurate on the drag strip, however not so accurate on the Dyno due to the extra loss that it shows.

22% for AWD and I have yet to see any APR stage 3 on pump gas make 320chp.

    On 91 or 100 octane?

Because im going to be going W/M as well and run on the 100 octane file.

Keep in mind that Im currently running 20-22PSI W/ a test pipe and FMIC. APR rated the stage 3 kit at what, 280hp running 17psi? 40hp w/ 3-5 PSI extra? That sounds right to me.

    You wanna ride?
BTW as soon as I get it all dialed in the way I want it I'll be hitting the Dyno.

That rating was on the high side for what it actual made.

BTW forgot to answer your other questions.

Yes I have a cig liter in my car, thats where my LM-1 is plugged into.

I will be going to the races next weekend at Fontana for the IDRC event.

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

Next weekend I have a autox school that I'll most likely be attending, so I need the Gtech for that.. Whens your next race? I'll just ship you the Gtech unit so you can try it out (you can use a Y splitter for the cig lighter) and you can make your own decisions on it. I'd also like to see what HP it showed for your 600whp car.

Truth will be told when I get my car on the dyno, but it certainly feels VERY strong.

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

Not sure when my next race will be after that since it is the end of the race season and the IDRC race is the last event of the year. After that I plan on doing plenty of changes to the car for next season.

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

Well, I am seriously considering not going to the autox for a couple of reasons.. But if I do go I could live without the Gtech.

I could ship it out to you on Tuesday and it'll get to you on Thursday, would you want to use it?

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

or if he knows someone or has an ipod touch with wifi or iphone can get dynolicous or w.e for $12.99 and be just as accurate as yours. It is pretty clear that they are both pretty accurate, so giving it to mike won't tell you much that you don't already know. A little off, but very close. Seams as though the iphone app is actually more accurate then the g-tech though. it's long but it gives you a good idea. http://odeo.com/episodes/23158279-iP...Tech-Garage419

If it is easy to setup I could do a run or 2 with it in the car. Does it need to be a full run or can I just do a 1st - 3rd gear pull? Reason is that I will most likely only be able to do 1 full pull before they ask me to leave.

Re: Did some runs with the LM1 wideband...

You just have to take my Audi setting in it, change the weight and redline and shiftpoints, get it in and get it squared up on the dash (you can do that in the grid in line) and once your staged press the button and wait for it to tell you its ready.

Then just hit it and go. However long you want to hit it is fine. As you saw in the above, I didnt do a full run, in fact I only got on it in 2nd in some of those runs. Its REALLY easy. I'd suggest practicing it on a country road in your daily driver.
