Yes, still alive. My alternator decided to die on my yesterday and let me sit along the interstate. I had a buddy bring me a new battery, just to bring it to a shop. I have no tools at school, so a diy wasn't in order. I took it to Petes euro techniques in Pittsburgh, PA. What have the rest of you guys paid?

I'd guess a minimum of 3 hours labor. The car is going into service position to get to two bolts..It's not a bad DIY and you only need a handful of tools.

Even if you had to buy the tools, you could do it for 1/3 of that, with the cost of the alternator.

Re: What have the rest of you guys paid for a new alternator, plus labor?

Did mine last week, four and a half hours and have never done it before. part cost 129.99. I did buy a torx set that ran me 25-30 bucks though, rest of the tools are common ones.

I used this write-up, I stopped where it had you drain the rad. cause you don't need to, to get to the alternator. Hope this give you encouragement. really simple and straight forward.
