this should really be posted in the tech section anyways...

do you have a win xp cd? make your computer dual-boot and run it from xp.

    i'm old school, i rock vag-com version 3112 on windows 98 with a pentium 166.

    Re: Vag COm!!!!!

Never a problem in Vag com, here. Win Vista, 2 gigs, Dell D630 2 Ghz core2duo laptop. I use the USB cable. Typical issue with the serial cable are baud rate issues, and setting flow control incorrectly. Try 115200, no flow control. Failing that, try 57600, 38400, and eventually 9600. If you end up at 9600, you are screwed if trying to log much of anything. Here is the setup I recommend:

WinXP on some type of 1 GB + RAM laptop with at least a 1.8Ghz processor.
    I use a USB Vag HEX/CAN cable.
Use VAG-com for clearing codes/recoding tip, etc
    Use ECU Explorer for logging
Use Motronic Unisettings for ME-7 for tweaking gloadl fuel/timing/idle values.

This is the cleanest USB solution.

I will work on a Vista solution over time, although ECU X REALLY hates vista.

    Re: Vag COm!!!!!

you have to right click on the icon that opens vag com and click properties, then go to the compatibility tab, the under privilage level check run this program as an administrator.

    Worked for me!

    Re: Vag COm!!!!!

lol run as administrator.. cant believe i didnt remember
vagcom needs to write files to your hard drive. vista is actually preventing that by running the program as the logged in user, which is a good thing
