    Question ESP Issue

So my stability / traction control is kicking in, cutting throttle, when it shouldn't be. So far, I've only noticed it doing this in 2nd gear, and early in 3rd under 50% + throttle. This is taking place when there is no reason for it: dry road, no wheel spin, etc. When I turn it off via the button on the dash it behaves itself.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Thank you. Have you had experience with the same issue?

    Re: ESP Issue

Are you lowered with suspension? That could be your problem. Most b5s I've talked to that are lowered have their ESP go off on random with them. I pulled (iirc) fuse 42 to disable ESP, as I was having the same issues.

    Re: ESP Issue

The car is lowered, slammed actually. How would this cause my issue?

I haven't noticed anything strange with the ABS or speedo.

My car is pretty slammed as well (24" front fender) and it won't mess with your ABS or speedo, just throttle cut essentially with ESP. I don't know why exactly, I just know it affects it exactly as you stated.

    Re: ESP Issue

Pulling the fuse will trigger the ESP light on the dash correct? Will it throw a code also?

Yeah, it looks the same if we were to push the ESP button (solid traction Light).
    No code.

My car has been as low as it sits for two years now, and this problem is just coming about now.

Did this issue take awhile to surface in your car?

    Re: ESP Issue

If it's caused by having your car lowered I'd imagine everyone who lowers there car would run into this, and that it would become an issue immediately, not years down the road.

A LOT of b5 owners I've met, including Simpply from WMS said this is a common issue and happens. Why it didn't happen earlier for you, I don't know. Could it be something else? Perhaps, i'm just letting you know similar things have happened for me and others I have personally talked to.

So, it happened to you as soon as your car was lowered?

No, it took a little while, but not 'years'.

I was told this is a possibility by my buddy who has had 4-5 S4. Whenever i have asked him about a problem he has always been right. It is just something to look into. If you have a Vagcom it might be possible to log the wheel speeds for each wheel. Check to make sure they are the same or close. Not sure if that is possible or not as i have not looked into it yet
