Give me some opinions. Flat Black Car Wrap.

I'm thinking of wrapping my car is flat black vinyl and getting my rims powdercoated shiny black. I think the car would look very unique.

I know two guys who have wrapped their track cars flat black and they've both said it shows dirt very quickly and looks drab if it's not kept up. The car would look great but I don't know if this is a good idea on a daily driver.

Flat black rarely looks good. I don't think that anything short of a supercar can actually pull it off without it just looking like primer.

I'd def be interested in seeing what it looks like if you decide to go for it though.

Matte black is awesome, there is a B7 avant that is my background that is matte black and it is by the coolest black you can get.

I've heard quotes more in line with $2800, but still. $1300 (plus powdercoating wheels) for "show" mods, or apply $1300+ to the Stasis/APR/ASP turbo setup....

I'd go with the latter, but that's why my car looks like every other A4 on the road (albeit much lower).

My friend's got a flat black MK4 GTI. It looks pretty sick.

But to be completely, totally honest with you. Really won't look good on an Audi because you might lose the elegance and luxury of it.

Although, makes me "hmmmmm" with that Avant above... it could look good, I guess.

IMO, flat black looks bad. Satin black looks awesome. There is a big difference when seen in person. Flat black typically looks like primer. Satin black has a little sheen to it:

Oh man, I laughed pretty hard when I read this... It's so true, every other day you come up with some new grand idea for your car or how you want to sell it for something else. I would say that about 10% of your ideas actually happen. Granted, you car is pretty sweet. But it's still a TIP (that should spark another "thinking about selling my car" thread).

Where did you get a quote for 1800? I've heard some guys say it costs them about 4G's, although they arent having it done to audis. I think this whole thing is getting kinda played out and not to mention its going to be a bitch to keep matte black clean on a car that is a daily driver. I agree with the others who said put the money towards the performance over this.

I got a quote of just under $1500 to have a A4 fully wrapped in matte black.


If the car is already black you can have the car sprayed with a matte/satin clear right on top of the stock black paint.


A full new paint job would cost $4k+, only wrap that would cost that much is one thats being done to a motor home or something that large.

Didn't mean for that to come out like you annoy me... I was just stating the facts. I don't have a problem with you posting your ideas. It definitely gives me new things to read and I'm sure that you help to spark the imaginations of other modders. So, keep it up!
