    in-dash dvd player?

Does any have an in-dash dvd player installed on their 2.8L A6? I'm looking to get one with something like a 7 inch lcd and dvd/mp3/wma/ipod ready/bluetooth and i was wondering how it would look/fit in my car. Would you have to remove the wooden flap that comes down cover the deck region? If anyone could post some pics of theirs, it would be great :)
I wanted to get one with GPS capabilities but those seem way too expensive.. Also any specific units recommended? I'm moving to a very cold region (Toronto) and I don't want something that freezes up when it's cold...
    Thanks!!

    Re: in-dash dvd player?

hey i live about an hour away from toronto. if your car is 98-99 i think you can only get a flip out dvd player (single din) i think all 2000+ cars come equipped with the double din radios. if thats the case, i couldnt help you too much, but i do have a double din deck in mine. from looking at pics of 98-99 interiors, i dont think ud have to mod anything, just need a single din bracket and unit, think thats all that will work in your car.

    hope that helps

edit: what year is your a6 anyways? seen a 99 with the flip down wood piece you were talking about. you may have to remove it, if you close it, looks liek it may hit the deck, depending on how far it sticks out. you may not have to. would be cool to be able to flip it down and hide it

    Re: in-dash dvd player?

    hey, thanks for your help.
My car is a 99.. I really don't know much about car audio stuff..
This seems like a stupid question but is the only difference between a single Din and a double Din is single Din in a flip out screen and double din is the fixed screen?
i wanted to get a flip out screen so that sounds good to me.
With no prior knowledge, would I be able to install it on my own? or should i get someone to do it for me?

    Avic D3 is a popular choice, I don't know if it'll fit a 99 though

double dins are fixed screens and takes up like 2 units of space, where single din is 1 single unit. i dont think there is any way at all to run double din in your dash.

to be honest im not sure if you can. since i had factory bose system i got someone to do mine for me and i have lots of car audio experience. i didnt want to attempt it myself. its a big job with a factory amp imo.
