    Key button in the back?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I drive a 05.5 B7 that has a button with a small picture of a key on it. The button is on the back side of the center armrest, and appears to be for use for the riders in the back seat. When the car is on, pushing the button will light up an LED next to the Key icon.

What does this button do? I did not find it in my Owner's Manual.

I'm pretty sure that button is for the people riding in the backseat to unlock the doors.

It allows anyone in the rear seat to lock the doors. They cannot unlock the doors with it no matter how many times they try to hit it.

It's a brilliant idea really. If you spend a lot of time in the backseat piitb, you can lock the doors without having to lean forward to lock the doors from the front.

Why reach forward? Just thrust and her face will lock one side and you can easily back into the ther side...

Re: Key button in the back?

the button is a safety mechanism, if you leave the keys in the ignition and open the drivers side door and go in a store, you can't lock the door. the passengers in the backseat now have the ability to do so.

I've seen people get flamed for NOT searching old threads for their answer...so I suppose this is the result!

So, it only locks - not unlocks?

B7's have it done weird. Or maybe at least mine does.
If all the doors are locked in my brothers B6, you have to pull the handle twice on three doors besides the drivers door. First pull to unlock and second to open.
On my b7, it's only for the rear doors.
