Anybody use those? or a comparable 3 heat ranges colder than stock?

I might want to run those for summer.

Am i going to run into problems?

Depending on the tuning and running conditions, three steps colder may have some carbon fouling problems.

    Re: Spark Plugs

I've never heard of anybody running plugs that are 3 steps colder than OEM for our cars. I'm advanced at least 5-7 degrees of timing right now. I'm seeing 1-3 CFs on cool days (50-60 degrees), and 4-8 on hot days (80-90 degree weather).

Will a -3 step heat range be too cold for my setup?

I don't know. There are a lot of factors that effect the running temp of the plug tips, and each cylinder runs a bit different from the others too. It's possible for carbon fouling to occur during warm up, or while driving around gently, but clean off when you drive it like you stole it. Or, it may not be a problem at all, even plugs three steps colder heat range number. Remember that knock and detonation is provoked by high cylinder pressure and temperatures, the plug heat range will effect knock onset only if the plugs are running too hot (equal to or hotter than the auto ignition temp of the fuel/air mixture near the plug tips,) at full load, but the ECU will pull timing regardless of the actual cause of the knock activity. IAT, Boost, Coolant temp, RPM, Specific Load/BMEP, Fuel octane rating, fuel lambda and many other interrelated factors are involved here.

An important aspect of the anti knock timing retard, is that there should be low value timing retard applied by the ECU as a normal condition. Only if the ECU is employing some timing retard, is it possible for the ECU self adaptation process to identify the knock limited maximum timing advance and run the most timing advance possible for the conditions and driving style specific with your setup. Knock control timing retard values less than 12 are not a problem, as long as higher values (greater than 6 degrees,) are not constant, with lower values (less than 6 degrees,) most of the time.
