Best all season for light snow/ice.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been looking for the best all season tires used mainly in light snow/ice conditions. Live in the Kansas city area and it doesn't snow like CO but it does get cold and occasionally snow. I would say light to medium snow levels. These would be my winter tires mainly but also my fall/winter/spring tires.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Re: Best all season for light snow/ice.

Is anyone using the conti extremes in an area where they experience mild to moderate snowfall? Im from southern california but go to mammoth tahoe and bend oregon in the winter months. This will be my first year taking my audi and im hoping these will give me enough bite.

I run the conti extreme's here in Illinois with very good results in the snow and the ice. A very good all around tire IMO. I am on my second set and got 30K out of my first set. FWIW my first set of 205's were better in the snow than my current set of 225's.

I went with the conti extreme contact dws from tirerack. Just waiting for the snow season to start here to try them out. Last year I went with goodyear eagle f1 a/s. They performed decently over medium slush/snow and light ice, but they developed a good amount of road noise as the tread wore down.

Re: Best all season for light snow/ice.

I ran the BFG SS A/S tires last year through our record snowfall season and did well. They have become terribly loud though and are in jeopardy of being replaced next spring if I can stand it long enough.

My friend put a set of the Conti Extreme Contacts on his Acura and they seem to have worn much better and did equally as well in the snow. The DSWs at the tope of my list for replacements but I am waiting for some reviews.

Yeah im stuck between the Conti DSW and the Yokohama Avid W4S as well....they both claim they are made for light snow/ice as an allseason.

Re: Best all season for light snow/ice.

I bought the Conti DWS tires from Doc a few weeks back, and they are unbelieveable. They are scary quiet(no road noise at 70mph) and stick to the road like glue. They have a softer sidewall than the summer tires I am used to, but the ride quality is MUCH better. I would highly suggest them.
