it wouldnt play the music. you might want to look into a phatbox. i have one in my car and it connects to the stock headunit and can be controlled through the cd changer buttons. i got mine with a 20 gig hard drive and it has a cartridge to connect in a dock at in a computer

Re: External Harddrive to Stock Heat Unit

OK the reason I am getting this is so I can run my external hard drive straight to the head unit.. The ipod acts as an external hard drive when u connect it to the any head unit.. So y buy an ipod just for that.. I will have the harddrive mounted somewhere under the dash or if this thing i bought off of ebay works.. just get an SD card with lots of Gigs organize it and set it and forget it.. untill i need new music.

That is what the Phatnoise does. MP3 storage and playback with a text to speech interface to help you find the right artist or genre or whatever. They usually go for 100-150 shipped with a 20g cartridge.

Phatnoise is out of business.. I would have to purchase a use product.. I would go that route but don't want to purchase a product that manufacture is out of business even tho u can update the software via there website.
