    Fixed my Heat

    Hey Guys and Gals,

A few weeks ago I started a thread talking about the problems I was having with my car. The newest entry on my list has been "no heat" due to clogged heater core. This week I brought it to a shop to have it flushed. I wasn't too optimistic as I've heard there is really only 50% chance this will work. After spending all day with the car the mechanic was able to remove all the junk in the core and bleed the coolant lines to remove all the air. Now the car blows heat right from hell herself. I'm more than pleased as it only cost me $200 instead of the $1000 I was quoted to change the heater core.

I win...and love my car even more now...thanks for reading

    Re: Fixed my Heat

damn i think i need to do this to my heater. Cause i've been having issues with my heat on and off too. Just curious, was it absolutely no heat or did it just take a really long time to heat up and not seem to get as hot as you would think "hi" should be? I'm having trouble with option number 2. It takes like 20 minutes for the air to warm up even after the car is warmed up. And the colder it is, the longer it takes.

    Re: Fixed my Heat

you may be in a better situation thatn I was...my car didn't produce any heat...it was just room temperature air regardless if the system was on HI or not...if you want to check for sure touch the inlet and outlet hoses that run to and from your heatercore...they're located beside the battery...if one is cold then your heater core is blocked with either crap or air...try to bleed the coolant lines of all air first and see what it does...let me know

    Re: Fixed my Heat

That's weird that it clogged up. The heater core in ours cars is a constant flow system, meaning that the coolant flows thru the heater core all the time if the engine is running. Usually you only have a clogging issue in a car the has a heater control valve and the coolant sits in the core to long and goes bad.

    Re: Fixed my Heat

yeah...when the engine is running the inlet is hot but the outlet is cold...really weird...there may have been more air trapped than junk
