i just sent this out to a fellow AZ'er, i wont say his name because i am not sure if he wants anyone to know... just thought i would post some pics. he sent me this manifold and it needed alot of re-welding, so i cut it up and put it back together. i had some issues with the voltage regulator on my welder so it took me a little while, and some of the welds dont look as pretty as others on the manifold because of this issue. just because they dont look perfect dosnt mean they aren't strong though. anyway, here are the pics:

I'm happy for Clint that he is getting his manifold and turbo back...

If I posted that manifold up, I can pretty much guarantee that you would be talking shit about the welds...

Here is a manifold that a friend and myself made for his 2002 in the garage. I did not do the welding, but I did cut and bevel all of the piping. Simple band saw and belt sander. Collector was bought precut and the flanges were water jet cut.

There is quite a bit of the design of this manifold that could be better, the merge on the collector is to high and because of space constraints, cyls 1 & 2 do not have as long of runners as 3 & 4. But the manifolds works 100% better than the previous log this BMW had. The tubular manifold made it a lot easier to complete the tuning maps in megasquirt as well.

I am happy that Paul rewelded that manifold for Clint. You should have seen it when he got it. Welds had holes in them and the penetration sucked.

yea true, Sean (Don Supreme) tells me that every day... I would have it done tomorrow if I could, its all a matter of waiting for money to buy things that I need... I also thought the manifold was going to be back to me months ago... a bunch of things I guess, I do agree with you though I need to get this thing going

Thanks to everyone that likes the manifold... its not my design, clint sent it to me and it needed alot of work as some of you already knew. i cut it apart and welded it back together. its a little bit hard to get great welds when welding over an area that has already been welded upon, not to say that they arent strong, the fill rod just dosnt flow as well, especially when your welders voltage regulator is not working properly. i am in the process of getting a new unit from snap-on as i have already replaced the regulator and it only lasted a short while. that is the reason some of the welds look good and some so-so.. plus i am a transmission tech not a welder, this is just a hobby that i am starting to take more seriously.

greg, i dont care if you post the full-race manifold in this thread, i love the full race manifold, its a work of art and it performs very well.

and to B6Lovin's question as to whether i have some more things in store for everyone? yes i do, i plan to start making manifolds that will be just like clints (except the welds should look much better with fresh tubing) with a few small tweaks. i am going to use laser or water jet cut head flanges, and vband wastegate flanges. i also plan to make a downpipe that will work with the manifold. and i am going to offer turbo kits using this manifold and downpipe and plan to include injectors, and a 30 series turbo as well. and i have been talking to a freind of mine who can make custom silicon hoses for a turbo inlet pipe similar to the samco and apr products except mine will be geared towards BAT's and i plan to offer varying sizes for the different turbo inlet sizes

However, we (as a community) have to get the software up to par for these configurations. I am starting to make some progress (finally) on my end and have other options in que that will be a collaborative effort.

good to hear... for my personel setup i am in the process of building i am going to either run unitronic, or standalone, although if clint has a good experience with tapp maybe i will give that a try.
