    Possible boost leak...need help

Well, finished up installing the ebay FMIC. I used a piping kit and made it all fit. Anyways, fitment isn't that great and I cant get the hoses to stay on at high pressures. I am currently running only 15PSI with my MBC. Anyways, when I go now I hear more of a loud whistle sound when the turbos spool. It seems louder with the engine colder, and quiets down after it gets alot warmer. When I drove it the first time, I had a coupler pop off. Do you think this could have damaged something? I have heard that a boost leak can make that whistling sound? I pressure tested it, but maybe I'm doing something wrong? When you connect the air hose to the tester should it just pressurize and be quiet or should it sound like there is air flowing inside the system? Any thoughts would be great guys. Mods: 997/K04 turbos, ebay FMIC, piggies, exhaust...etc...

as far as the whistle sound, i believe that is normal. I would think if it was whistling under boost that would be leak. The pressure testing thing has got me stomped as well. You definitely hear a lot of air going through the system so it's hard to hear anything else. Hope this helps some.

OP, what kind of clamps are you using? T bolt clamps I would say are necessary when using a FMIC, when I had that setup I had a t bolt at every connection so that they wouldn't come off. A boost leak doesn't really sound like a whistling sound more or less like air just rushing out. A good trick for keeping the IC pipes on is actually getting some hairspray and spraying the pipe then sliding the hose over and clamping it down tight. Hairspray lubes it up to let it slide on then gets sticky over time.

Well, I am just using the clamps that came with it. Those worthless worm clamps...Either way the piping kind of fits like crap, so I think I am just going to buy the update kit with 4 pipes that fits better...I figure it will fit better, the pipes are a little smaller, and has less places to leak compared to my current setup of piping. Anyways, I am puzzled then. If a boost leak won't cause the whistling sound, then what is wrong?
