Teaser thread!

Since the cracking of the DPEs, I decided I had to search for some respectable wheels to roll on temporarily and for just messing around. After looking around, Shawn inspired me to get some S4 wheels with how great they looked on his A4. So with that, I found a guy who GAVE me 5 S4 wheels with plenty of tread for free. The wheels were in great shape and I cannot be happier. Thanks again Roger! Anyway, today I picked them up and prepped them to be painted flat black. I didn't take too many pictures but you get the point.






Today was just the first coat since it got too dark out. It actually looks great in person and I'm really excited.

Shawn, did you put spacers on with the s4s? If not, can I see a picture that shows where they sit? Thanks!

haha nice! I didnt run spacers no. I have the spacers but no bolts so I never wasted the time/money. They sit pretty far in there, I would definitely get 5-10's for the front and 10-15's for the back if your planning to keep them for a bit

Interesting. Yeah, I'm thinking about keeping these for winter wheels/thrash wheels to keep the DPEs nice and clean and STRONG! I'm excited to put these wheels on. I've been wanting to see how all flat black wheels look on my car. Stealth bomber?

Still looks great. Every time I see it, I think about converting to it! I will probably when I get the body kit.

Quick question...What should I do about clear coating? Should I even bother with it? Should I get a flat clear coat? I just dont want these chipping after I wash them!

was the paint wheel paint?

if it was, dont worry about clear coat. that paint is strong.

Krylon Flat Black paint

nice luck on the wheels man! that's sweet!

but NOOOOOOO on the krylon. the first time i painted my B5's wheels black i used krylon black. along with clear, and that shit started to chip and pit like no other. could be due more to my harsh winter i put them through, but i redid them with Rustoleum and they not only looked better, but never chipped or flawed. fwiw

get the dupli color flat black wheel paint. my silver (without clearcoat) has held up like a CHAMP.

Yeah, I've done them all. I think i'll just stick with this and see how it goes. Then switch to rustoleum or dupli if Krylon fails!

Tony, im probably gonna get smashed by others since i did my own paintjob (cheaped out) etc etc but that looks like crap (or cheap if you prefer). Flat black rims dont look good cause one knows its spray painted. Thats a subaru mod...

flat black is just another type of look. and how will they know he painted them. he could have very well just had them flat black powdercoated

tony call me or PM me, i want to do this mod (flat black my wheels) and let me know what you did step by step so i can get these painted. im thinking of doing red or flat black. havent decided yet.
