What T-Belt kit should I get?

Trying to decide between these two:

    http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21105-C

    http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...ategory=Timing (Ultimate Plus)

I've dealt with Blau parts in the past and was VERY happy with their product and service. Haven dealt with ECS.

    Whats your opinion?

Re: What T-Belt kit should I get?

Haha, i did my TB today. Took pretty much all afternoon but with no issues. I had ECS Ultimate kit, but not plus.

Either kit will do you just fine. Just make sure it includes the accessory belt as some kits don't.

I've dealt with Blau parts in the past and was VERY happy with their product and service. Haven dealt with ECS.

Blau parts kit seems to be more complete with a better price with a few extras thrown in. And if i decide to do the job my self (not sure yet) they rent out the necessary tools to get it done.

When I did my TB on my old B5 I used the ECS kit with no problems. I would use them again when I need to do my B6.

Interesting post. We don't stock anything? Glad you did your research on the subject before making such an uninformed comment. Here is just 1/3 of the near 5000 part numbers and $2 million worth of product we keep on the shelf in one of our two warehouses - one at 10740 Hillpoint and other at 10800 Hillpoint right here in San Antonio.

We have the largest inventory of VAG parts and accessories than any other WD in Texas. Do we drop ship from time to time if we out of a part number? Absolutely. Who doesn't? As far your clutch goes - who did you speak to? What clutch are you referring to? Did you ask about an OE replacement SACHS or did you need a SPEC? Did we or did we not have it? Regardless, we very well may not have had it on the shelf. Wouldn't be the first time. Running out of a part number constitutes us a "joke" to you? That's fascinating and quite funny. Am I talking 'smack' now?

Oh, and in respect to the thread title at hand, we have these timing belt kits in stock. We'll even knock off a few bucks if you want to come by and pick one up due to the fact that we're not shipping it.

Re: What T-Belt kit should I get?

Well, i blew my clutch one night and i called the next day to see if you guys had any clutch. Whichever person i talked to said he would have to call that little garage bay you call a warehouse to see if you had one. When he called me back he said he wouldn't know anything until the next day. So i talked to austin veedub and they had a complete kit plus flywheel there the same afternoon. Who cares about you needing to come in and defend your internet business ego to a forum... I called and based my OPINION on how i had an experienced your service. So i hope you feel better now that i was "owned" in a thread about timing belts. Because i know im going to lose a ton of sleep tonight about this...

try dieselgeek.com - I got all of the parts plus a new thermostat for about $300, a great deal. You'll have to call them for the AMB kit since I don't think they have it listed on their website. Great parts dealer.

If one PNW bagged B6 baller is genuinely interested in a set of Sparco seats, we can certainly work something out for you. Audizine member love is always passed out on many of the lines we offer. We were recently opened as the Southern U.S. Tuning Distributor for Sparco and stock right at about 70% of the Sparco seat line so chances are we have the seats in stock that you want. If for some reason you want a seat that we do not happen to stock for whatever reason, but Sparco has it at their Southern California headquarters, we can drop ship (oops, pardon me for using such awful terms like "drop ship") them to you straight from Sparco. They certainly do not mind providing such a service like this for us. Feel free to PM me your inquiry and we'll take care of you.

Great. More misinformation from the peanut gallery member. First off, when you call us, you are calling our main store front and warehouse. A second facility is located down the street from us that is nothing but a stocking warehouse. FWIW, and if you must know, all drivetrain components (i.e. clutches and flywheels) are stocked in the same offices that the phones are answered in so now I know your story isn't adding up. So you're claiming that when you called, someone told you that they would have to "call the garage bay to check stock?" Interesting, because those phones are a smooth 20 feet from our "garage bay" warehouse where all clutches and flywheels are shelf stocked. In fact, there isn't a single phone at our facility that you couldn't throw the stapler on the desk that you answered that phone on and hit the shelf that houses 50-60 VAG clutches and flywheels. Who told you this? Did you get a name? There is Kari, Kelly, Jason, Jessica, Juan, and Mark. Which of those names rings a bell, mate? With all this rhetoric, incomplete info, and general poop flinging, you *have* to at least remember who told you this. Help me out here if you don't mind.

Ahh...ok, now we're getting somewhere. So you're saying that a rep of ours actually called you back. Great. So it sounds like a representative of ours realized that we were out of stock on the particular part number that you desired, but contacted the manufacturer to see when our next stock order would be in. You're claiming he said he wouldn't know anything until the next day? Sounds like to me that he contacted our supplier only to find out that they are located on the East Coast and that they wouldn't be available until the next business day (which you yourself admit he relayed to you). So, what exactly is the problem here? According to your post in thread, we are a "joke" because we were out of stock on a part number. Care to elaborate a little more here on your train of thought on that because it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If we are deemed as a "joke" based on us running out of a part number from time to time then we are definitely the Richard Pryors of the industry. Russell Simmons' Def Jam tour should certainly look into doing a skit on us.

Wonderful. Glen and the good guys at Austin Veedub were able to take care of you and get you what you needed. We know them quite well and they happen to be a good customer of ours. We apologize that you had to pay so much through A.V. Had you called a day later, we'd have had that kit back in stock and would have saved you almost $100. Well, I guess there is always next time.

Are you serious? Do you jump on the web and call Pep Boys a "joke" when they are out of Turtle Wax? Read what you're posting here, buddy. Also, I never mentioned anything about you being "owned" here - that was your fellow Audi forum members, not us. We totally forgive you for your incorrect assessment and unwarranted ridicule over inventory stock on a clutch kit. Life will go on, no worries. I just found this thread and thought I'd call you on it. Nothing wrong with that. No harm, no foul.

Damn! Your in Texas..??!! I had no idea i go to school in austin. can you cut any deals for a texas native. I need a timing belt kit, brake "refresh" and a turbo soon!!

It makes you look at lot less silly. You called us about a clutch that we were out of stock on so that makes us a "joke" to you? How do you sound, bro? Would you say the same thing about Pep Boys if they were out of spark plugs for your B6? Get over yourself for two minutes. Your post was unwarranted and without merit.
Why don't you dot your t's and cross your i's there buddy... Read the post, where in there says that the person on the phone said it was out of stock? i can't seem to find it. It must be my lack of edukation.

Yes, we're located in N.E. San Antonio, not far off I-35 as you come in South from Austin, and service a lot of Austin VW and Audi owners who make the short 45 minute/1 hour drive down here to the Alamo City to pick up parts.

There are all kinds of deals to be had on our site at www.mjmautohaus.com and the AMB timing belt kits are usually always in stock. We can knock $10 off the price of one if you're picking it up. We also run specials on REVO and APR software from time to time if software happens to be on your "to do" list for your B6. In addition, we have an APR Stage III+ B6 Quattro 1.8T here as demo vehicle that you can check out if the GT28RS is a route you've considered going with on your car. Also, be sure to try to attend Autumnbahn in Houston next week (www.autumnbahn.com), as we'll have a plenty of Hawk Performance pad specials for all Audis. The deals will be killer ones the day of the show!

If you didn't buy the clutch from us that day then wouldn't that kind of indicate that we were out of stock on it? Makes 100% sense to me. Oh, and my "I dotting" and "T crossing" comment was in respect to your inaccurate knowledge of our inventory. "They don't stock anything!" LOL! Drive on down here some day, mate, and I will show you more Audi part numbers on the shelf than both the Austin and San Antonio Audi dealerships have combined.

    ^ haha.. eah on topic..

i dont know.. ECS is a good kit.. will you be doing it yourself or going somewhere for it? for the experiences i have read, it seems like a better option to just get all the parts orm the person doing the install. that way they are responsible for everything.
