Angry So, my bad luck continues...

Well if you noticed my last thread about scuffing my wheels up... This is worse.

I guess it all started yesterday when I noticed that my fuel gauge, that I just (by just I mean LAST week), had the dealership fix under warranty, wasn't reading again. I thought nothing of it, I would just give the dealership a call and bring it up to them to have fixed again, still free of charge.

Well this morning it still wasn't reading, but I have to wait until monday to call. What kind of service department is open on sundays, right? So I drive to work no problem. It sits for 7 hours while I'm at work. At 4:55 I go to start it up to give it some time to warm up, all's fine and I go back inside.

I come back out five and notice that it sounds like it's running really rough. I get in and notice that I have a blinking check engine light. I didn't have a choice but to pull the car out of the driveway, as I did, I noticed it seemed to not have any power.

So it is now sitting on the street outside of my job waiting for me to call the dealership tomorrow to arrange having it towed up there. I will then proceed to wait for them to actually get it into the shop, probably three days, then get the diagnosis. I have no idea what it could be, no other lights came on and there were no fluids on the ground under the car. I'm hoping it's not sludge or the timing belt. Would the car even run if the timing belt snapped? What else could it be?

bad coil pack start the car then remove the coil pack one at the time with the engine running...everytime you remove a good one you will notice a change in the way the engine runs...when you get to the bad coil there will be no change when you pull it out...very easy to do and no need for a towing, you should always keep a spare one in the car poss more than one

SHIT!! I Can't believe I didn't think of that! I don't feel worthy of my four rings! I might just swap all of them with the R revisions at this point and keep the three good ones for spares.

    What do you think?

Alright, so I'm going to steal my girls car tomorrow and drive up to the dealership tomorrow and pick up four new coil packs. I just hope the guys in the parts departments aren't idiots like most people I deal with... I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

So I had an epiphany last night, I could go to the local VW dealer and save myself about two and a half hours driving time. I just want to double check, the VW and Audi coil packs are the same, right?

    yes.

but if you end up going to audi, i believe the hitachi coils ecs sells are the same as the B5A4 coils.

Revision R is what I put in my car back in 2006. Still working strong. Bought them from the VW dealership for about $30-35 a piece.
