B6 interior inserts (wood vs aluminum vs carbon)...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Now that i have sold my car it's time to kick my S4 search into hight gear.

That being said i have checked out a few cars and was curious if the inserts in the interior were able to be pulled and swapped out. I really don't care for the wood look and would want to change it if a car that i purchased had it. Is this possible?

Yes it is possible, you can get the brushed aluminum, piano black or have your trim wrapped in CF

Re: B6 interior inserts (wood vs aluminum vs carbon)...

Yes, you can swap out the interior trim. I believe there are 4 choices:

-Wood <-- You don't like this
-Aluminum <-- Meh, its better than the wood.
-CF <-- This looks really, really good.
-Piano Black <-- Never seen it.

    *edit*
    Damn, you guys post fast.

wasn't there a gray plastic available on base euro cars?
note: aluminum trim is available as "fish scale" or brushed(s4, other?)

    other alternatives
-pull your trim and paint match to your car's exterior. or paint whatever color you want.

-wrap in fabric. some one on here has a burbury wrapped trim. not my style, but i do like the idea.

keep your eyes on the classifieds, seems to have trim every so often.

any of these options are way cheaper than the $900 someone above posted.

I must be the only person that likes the wood better than CF or Aluminum. Piano black might be nice though.

I like it too. It gives the interior a really classy feel. I would like to see those pieces that were wrapped in cloth/leather/whatever else.

Please, please do post those up. I think that would look really good with the black leather recaros.

You guys like the wood more. I never thought I would hear that. I really don't like the wood. Feels to "grocery getter" to me. Of course, that's all just a matter of opinion. To each his/her own....

The parts you are looking for is always called "trim".

You can get your stock trim wrapped in CF by some aftermarket people for typically around $700 (or cheaper...depends on the deal you get).

yeah i don't think i've seen pics of that before. def post.
i was actually considering wrapping it all in a silver/greyish suede. it'd bring some contrast to the all black interior plus flow nice with the silver exterior. i have my sub/amp box in the trunk wrapped with it and it looks really good.

I loved the Birch trim in my first B6 S4. I have the aluminum now in my present car and it's nice too, but I want the Birch for my Avant. I think with the Platinum interior the wood would look really classy.

I loved the S4 grey birds eye maple I had in my car before I put in a set of CF trim and it completely changed the way the interior looked.

Send us in your cores and have them wrapped. You won't be disappointed.

I think ultra flat black fits better with the rest of the interior. I've repainted mine to black and will post some photos of it as well.

Re: B6 interior inserts (wood vs aluminum vs carbon)...

Here's couple of not so good shots of interior. By the time I got home it was pitch black outside so I had to do with crappy garage light and flash. There is grain, dust and dirt so ignore all that. Also, you'll notice couple of scratches that I don't care about right now but before spring I will respray everything. SO DON'T JUDGE THE QUALITY BY THESE PHOTOS. Looks way better in person and I would not be lying if I said it took way less than an hour to do.

there is a diy writen if you search it. The center just lifts right out. The part on the ashtray you kind of have to squeeze and pull at the same time.

Carbon Copy dudes have a DIY. Everything is super easy and only piece that requires some work and you have to be careful is the small left dash piece. Buddy of mine did his 540 in ultra flat too and it really completes the interior.
