Greg be careful coating that manifold. APR was very adament about not coating the inconel stuff because of it's expansion properties or something when I asked them about it. It wasn't a generic answer from them; they were being very serious about it.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully it's not a problem. Good thing is only the outside is coated, so if the problem is the ceramic chipping it won't cause any harm.

Yep. As someone who has taken this thing and out multiple times to switch from HFC to to TP and then to wrap TP, and then then to replace actuator rod....
Whole thing as one piece is the easiest way.

And if you hear something different from APR, let me know. Not their sales staff... I mean from the engineers.
And it wasn't flaking because that was what they first said, and I'm like "Do you think I'd put something in the manifold that could flake and bust up my blades?"
I wasn't satisfied until I spoke with the brains of the operation, not the standard "It will void you warranty" sales answer.
I think 400hp Greg said something about this a while back, too.

I believe they are the newer bosch ones. Happen to have any close up pics of yours?

As for the clutch... I don't launch my car, and I don't slam gears everywhere I drive. So I think it will be sufficient. I have 90k on my stock clutch and I've been making 250wtq the last 30k and it is still working fine with my driving style.

All good points. I just don't see any clutch kit that stands out right now as the "right choice." People have had problems with all of the OFEs and FEs but I am not about to put in a 6 puck DXD. Not enough people using the clutchmasters to get a good idea of how they perform. Same goes for spec.

my OFE clutch was the tits before i launched it just one too many times. you'll love it!

and just a suggestion, a LWFW is really worth it for the revs. consider the 16lb spec flywheel. my 11lb one is just a tad bit too light for day to day driving. but nothing bad.

and it's about time someone picked up 20vturbo's kit! you're going to love the 28rs. nice upgrade man!

I do not forsee any ing. Esp with that transmission jack and the car lift

Eric is back from PR on the 17th. We might get his B5 back together during the evenings that week. Suspension parts and TB parts have arrived. SO, might be able to get your car into his garage thereafter like we discussed.

I gotta get a pilot bearing puller so I'll get on that this week. Otherwise, I think we're good to go. Gonna be a fun one!

And Mark was in my car on the dyno about an hour ago when I called so I might actually see my Avant after all. (I think)

BTW. Jordan has his APR hardware ceramic coated an no problems on his end. I think his EGTs are typically fairly high being in altitude too. I wouldn't sweat the coefficient of thermal expansion worries.

PS. You need one of these now:

Nice, I can't wait It might be hard to get everything done in one shot, but I have no problem with that. And good to know about Jordan's APR hardware and ceramic coating

Bet your getting excited about the avant

I would have thought about getting the weighted shift knob if I had a black interior. In my platinum interior I think it might stick out as an "aftermarket item" which I am trying more and more to stay away from.

In two days it shouldn't be a problem with two people. Clutch and shifter one day. TB and turbo the other (or add shifter w/ the turbo and TB job). We'll have plenty of time then. The shifter is easy to align for the 5spds. Can also get it in without removing the ash tray (1/4" ratchet and extension FTW). We'll do the linkage when we do the clutch since the trans will be out.

Platinum interior here too. We'll see how it looks once I install it. I, too, want to keep the car 'stock-like'. Hence the boost gauge in rear view mirror but the weighted shift knob appeals as a nice functional piece.

Now that work is actually being done I am getting very antsy to pick up the Avant. Esp the more I think about the goals we set forth.

Jordan is the one that got me thinking (and following through) with ceramic coating my stuff. I just gotta get my FMIC anodized black now.
