I believe you can pop it out around the edges.

    +1

I want to remove mine for the same reason... I can dismantle it and remove it...

Does anyone without the ski-bag have a picture of that area? I want to see what the factory look is, and If I can/should just buy the OEM parts to swap it out.

From the inside of the car remove the surrounding trim
with the seat dropped down, remove rear trim
There are clips holding the bag in, it is very straight foward.

with the bag out it does look a bit unfinished so i put the inner trim back in but it is not secured yet

i removed mine also, but the doors rattled like crazy so i took out the one on the back side (trunk side) and used these little foamy sticky things i have on the inside door, works great and i can reach through my hole now without lowering my seats

    that's what she said...

I'll pull mine out to see how it looks, or if I can modify the existing trim. I'd really like just a trimmed hole (that's what she said) to be functional, yet not look gawdy...

    Re: ski bag removal?

all of mine is secured and installed the oem way just with out the ski bag, it will all go back together fine without the bag, it just might cause the doors to rattle a little because there is nothing pushing on them
