Best way to open the hood

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I went to pop my hood and the cable came off. This happened to me before, but the tabs on my head light were broken so I was able to just pull my head light out and reach in with a long bar. This time around my head light has been fixed and I don't really want to brake the tabs off. I cant seem to get at it from the bottom, it is just to tight.

    Does anyone have any suggestions???

    thanks Cooper

Re: Best way to open the hood

Is it stuck all the way down? or at half latch.

Honestly, you could pull the bumper cover off, that's pretty quick and easy. Otherwise I've had some luck popping the grill out if it's at half latch.

stuck all the way down. Pulling the bumper doesn't get me any closer to the lever I have to push over. The little lever is in behind the radiator.

Re: Best way to open the hood

when my mom backed into my car and crushed the hood the guys at the shop were able to pop the grill out with a screwdriver and then pop the hood, but I'm not sure if I would do that unless I knew you were getting a new hood incase you scratched the paint or something.

I have the stock grill I can sell you for cheap if you get to the point of breaking the grill. PM me if you get to that point and are interested.

our cars dont leave much room for trying to go from the bottom. Your best bet is to take of the front bumpber, then go behind the grill and pop out the grill. Then you might be able to get behind the radiator support from the top and pop it half open.

Unhappy Re: Best way to open the hood

    Hi,

The hood has become stuck on my car. Pulling the relase handle does nothing.
I can pull the tab on the front but it does nothing.

I have read a couple of possible solutions.
    - Remove grill, unbolt latch.
    - Go in from underneath with a screwdiver.

Does anybody know the best way to undo the hood.

Re: Best way to open the hood

Had mine stick shut during the winter. You can get the grill off with a screw driver one tab at a time. Just make sure to put a piece of towel or something over the tip or your going to scratch the hell out of the grill. Takes a while but it can be done without any broken tabs, GL.

Re: Best way to open the hood

do NOT break anything, there is a VERY SIMPLE way to do this:

Jack the front of the car up. Get a crowbar/1.5ft long screw driver or thin pipe. Look up between the fan and the front of the car with a flashlight, you WILL see the latch/levers/etc for the hood. Get the bar/screwdriver in there and move the lever towards the passanger side. I did this last week.
