325is vs a4 1.8t

So im in this heated debate with my friend who owns a 325is coupe 5spd which is rated @ 189 hp btw his car is stock with the exception of a new clutch. This thing feels pretty quick because of the new clutch.

I use to own an A4 QTM 97' with 3in d/p with 3in exhaust with apr chip 93/100oct mode. It wasnt the fastest thing in the world but im sure it could own his ass.

My older bro use to own a 325is exact as my friends but his was "modded"...the guy had a 3inch exhuast and had alot of miles. And he raced my other friends audi A4 with just a giac chip. And my bro lost from a 40 roll like 3 times by maybe 2+ cars each time. My Bmw friend is debating that my bro's 325is had lost hp because of the ricer 3inch exhaust (he planned to boost it but never did) and that his car has a new clutch an would womp on a4 chipped on a 40 roll or a 60 roll. He said awd sucks from higher rolls and his bmw would own it. I just wish i new someone that still had one. Becuase as a former owner this is a kick to my stomach. My new ride would walk the shit out of any BMW but its not really fair to race him in my new ride even with boost at 8psi.

Just chipped it would be a pretty even race. If you had a GiacX chip or somethin somethin then yea you'd smoke him. Our cars feel fast cause of that boost spike, where as the BMW's smooth inline 6 feels so slow because its so smooth.

Stock clutch and chipped? Our land yachts don't make enough power even with a chip for AWD to give us an advantage on a RWD that can launch, especially on a new clutch.

Fwiw, I raced a 96 325is auto from a dig 10,20,30 what ever and I killed him with the mods in my sig by about 10 cars every time.

Being chipped should do the trick. Gotta take advantage of that AWD launch from a dig. I was able to keep up with a 95' 5.0 stang with exhaust being chipped with a shitty launch in my auto with just a chip.

With the mods in my sig i stay door to door with my buddy's e36 M3 with my B6....which is heavier. Since I'm only FWD he will pull almost a car on the launch but I will real him in up to 70, then we are even until I shut down around 110ish.

Although, the last time me and him ran I kept the go pedal on the floor between shifts from a 50ish kick and I actually slightly pulled him. He will pull me once I get into 5th and outside of the K03's RPM range.

I dust my friend 330ci 5sp with out any issues. Best of all he has bolts-ons on his car. GruppeM intake and UUC exhaust.

I took out a A5 3.2 last night as well, the driver of the A5 was bewildered =).

All I have is some cheap pep boys cone my friend gave me, a 3" turbo back, silicone intake pipe and a custom SSP tune w/ mbc @ 21psi.

I could do a 4K+ dump clutch launch too and I would win I'm sure. In a typical street launch with minimal clutch slipping an E46 330i is a hard car to beat.

I don't get how you guys beat cars with 10% less drive train loss,20-50 more hp, that are 200-600lbs lighter. My chipped Audi will be neck and neck with an Escalade from a 5mph roll. Something doesn't add up in these stories, or the other driver didn't know it was a race...

Are we talking about same thing? Yes slightly higher drive train loss, but the BMW is 184-225hp, chipped 1.8t should be 200-210 (or higher if 01' w X chip). So the chipped 1.8t should have 15+ hp on the 325, or -15 on the 330.

Which 3 series are 200-600 lbs lighter? 325i is 3250lbs, 330i is 3350lbs (both manual trannys), 1.8t is 3250-3400lbs (quattro manual) depending on model year. I see a max 200 lbs difference.

And you should slowly pull away from an escalade, well depending on the year, a brand new one has almost identical power/weight ratio as chipped A4, so yeah you would remain neck and neck. First gen should easily pull away from, second gen should still pull away from, unless its optioned w/ the 6.0l engine which would probably keep up with you.

my old '90 325i felt faster than my chipped 1.8TQ which dyno'd @ 175whp/190wtq @ AWE. Not sure how an E36 325i would fair up, but my E30 was light and torquey.


I loved it so much, I put a deposit on Friday for this baby......restored '89 325iX (AWD). Couldn't help but get back into one.

380cc are they pink? becuase the srt in 2003 came with 380cc and i heard they link up to audi for some reason. Anywho people give em away for like 30 bucks.
