    Re: stage 1 question

Yea its your coils, right after i got chipped i burned 3 of them, now im running the hitachi coils. There solid. I would go with the siemens, my buddy has them with his Stg1+ and he pulls hard, ive heard some problems with the Genesis.

I don't know how well this will work but my buddy has a 2003 passat 1.8t and after he chipped it, it was doing the exact same thing. He took it into the dealer for a tune up and found out it was running too rich. So it ended up being a really easy fix. I don't know if this helps, but whatever.

Seems like ur friend had the same issue. When the coils go out there is a loss of spark and that leads to a rich condition due to the unburned fuel that could if ignored permanently damage the catalytic converter/other engine parts.
