    Timing belt replacement ECSTUNING/mechanic

Hello, It is time for me to replace my timing belt. [for my 2000 audi tt quattro]

I plan on purchasing this kit from ecstuning and having a mechanic (professional) install it.

    http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...productID=2286

The mechanic wants $700 even cash.

Does this seem like a good deal? Considering the amount of work that is necessary to change all of those parts?

An audi dealer nearby wanted $1300 to do the job, and that's not saying what they change besides belt/water pump.

Sorry for all of these new questions, but I'm new here, and I'm learning!

Sounds a little high to me. There are plenty of independant Euro shops near me that will do it for between $450 and $500 if you bring the parts. Depends on the market in your area it may be worth calling around a bit.

Good luck, wish you were closer to me.

Audi tech since 2002, and still not a thief. Had to scratch the 'dealer' part as I will no longer be associated with any dealer for the first time in over a decade. That's right, I'm moving on to the independent side of things.

    I'll call around

The guy seems really legit -- he will be doing the work himself and he is the owner.

Judging by all of those parts $500 is good??

    Stuffs expensive overhere

    Unfortunately so.

    Time to order the parts.

I just got 4 new Continental Extreme Contact (all season) mounted on the car yesterday, went for a drive today up north, its simply fantastic, I am extremely impressed with the car, the tires I had on before were some knock-off brand "Spector" and they were terrible.

thanks fellas, i will keep you posted on the timing belt replacement if you would like.
