    Im confused... & I dont have a wife...

    So heres the deal... I want a car thats daily driver realiable.... but I want a nice decent amount of power also... i know thats a big question mark... but 450whp everyday driven is a good amount for me... question is... what setup to go with...

    K04's?
    Rs6's?
    Gt25's?
    gt28's?

    I can pretty much go with any setup i want and if i had too, i can get another car for a daily driver if i had too but dont really want too, i would like to keep my s4 a daily driven car...
    so i dont know what set up i can make around 400-450hp with pump gas.... and have it a daily driven car without maxing out the tune (running race gas, meth, high boost, nos, etc) ... anything above rs6 turbos i know i will be doing conecting rods at the very least..

    I'm not an S4 guy but I'll get you started....


    The basic k04 wont make 450awhp on pump, iirc they make a little over 400awhp on pump and get into the 430 range on race gas.

    GT28's would way overshoot your goal.

    Search around for dynos of the Rs6 turbos and gt25's.... the company that offers the gt25 kits (asp?) should have dynos on their website that you can check out to see if it's in the right power range.

    you can get 450 awhp on k04's with a strong motor. given, you will need other supporting mods, but its possible.

    Rs6's sound like something you should look into a bit more. Both VAST and ASP advertise power levels of their OTS tunes to be about 550 CHP, around 450 wheel.

    Sounds like Rs6s are the way to go for you. Contact jhm/vast and they will set you up.
    2001 S4 6sp...has a few goodies...and JHM shifted

    I actually wanted that tial kit when it came out but no one really running them.... genjdms kit is nice, but i feel like i would have to rebuild the heads to get the most out of it... whats the point in running gt28's if your gettin full boost pretty late and cant rev past 7k rpm...

    Im really leaning towards rs6's seems like choice for what i want.. do you think stock exhaust manifolds will really do the trick spooling rs6's up? or should i look into gettin a aftermarket set?

    ???? Think you need to talk to some1 running a strong GT28 setup, like Guruman, cuz I"m pretty sure he is seeing full boost by 5k or 5500 rpms and has a rev limit of almost 8k......

    What im tryin to say is that... on a stock valve train which i plan on keeping stock for the time being... its useless to go gt28's since you will hit full boost very late.... like 5k rpms? and my rev limit would only be what 7200rpm.. in other words to me i think you cant really use the gt28's to their full potential with just a motor that had upgraded rods...

    exactly. w/o an overbore the lag on a GT28 would be a bit too much for a DD.
    One of the guys around here has a set of RS6's on his Avant, stock tune right now, but should be pretty mean once finished. Personally though, I've driven a couple K04'd 2.7's, I'd be plenty happy with that.

    Thats my goal exactly. The answer is this. Ko4's stage 3 setup with water/meth injection tuned for your car. 450awhp is right where you should end up if not a little more. I'm just over 400awhp now on stage 3 ko4's and w/ w/m injection that's what I'm lookin for. The big part is the tune though, get the w/m custom tuned.

    I would search but im at work and actually have work to do...
    where can i get it? get what fueling/tuning is available for it? manifolds necessary?

    He was also a TIP, and the big problem was he couldn't get a transmission to hold down the power.

    i was under the impression that the tials came with manifolds and dps at first... but yea 5500$ for turbos, hardware, and lines is not for me...

    I would much rather spend 8K and get a genjdm kit, with manifolds, dps, tial wastegates, turbos, and all lines and hardware... than spend 5500$ for turbos with some hardware! If you add 2g's for manifolds and 800$ for downpipes.. then you can just get a better gendjm gt28 set up... and i dont want a gendjm kit because it doesnt make sense for me since i only plan on doing the bottom end in the motor (rods, bearings, all bolts/studs,) for reliability..

    Just because I have the funds to get and do whatever set up i want, doesnt mean i have to go spend my money stupidly... With my car i have a certain goal and thats to make 450whp on pump gas with a mild street tune... 525-550whp with an agressive tune on race gas is what i wanted also... but i am straying away from that because i dont think i would even track the car much anyways... but it would be nice to have a set up on the car that can have that potential... and i dont want to take too much of the daily driver reliabily out of the car..

    I was going to buy a new s5, but i love my car way too much to get rid of it.. so i much rather do a nice stage 3++ set up.. and try to keep it as reliable as possibe..

    So i found out that rs6's may currently be the best route for me so far...
    (3300$ for turbos, 650$ for jhm dps, 100$ for misc turbo hardware/gaskets, and if i cant find a used set of manifolds for 1200$ or so then ill just get my stock ones ported and ceramic coated by vast, k04 inlets i already have, and im still under the price of the tial turbo kit..) however im still gonna end up spending another 5grand (fueling/tuning, clutch, all mounts, rods, studs/bolts, machine shop, and misc stuff that usually comes up during a build)

    Hopefully after the holidays If there is no set back, i will start to piece together everything i need for this build

    Good to hear. We have a JHM RS6 customer car on stock block. I think we finished it about 6 months ago? Still running strong last I heard.
