Does the TIP trans have a overheat sensor?

My crome shift surround gets really really hot when the car is driven. Can anyone tell me if the Tip transmission has a overheat sensor to stop any damage being done to it?

The transmission does know it's fluid temp. For the record, it is very difficult to overheat transmission fluid if the fluid is changed, and nothing is broken. Synthetics can go well over 300 degrees without damage. Your heat you are sensing could be transferred from under the car, as well.

Ok thanks. The trans seems fine I changed the fluid and filter about 8k miles ago when I did the TC, I must not have put the heat shield and shifter cover under the car back on properly. But its good to know it would let me know if it was overheating.

Oh no, not that hot... hot enough to notice it though but I can put my hand on it and keep it there w/out it burning me.
