    Homelink doesn't work

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently had my car at the shop and had the front bumper replaced (DTM) and when I came to my house I found out that my garage opener isn't working. The buttons light up, but the LED indicator doesn't so I can't even reprogram it or anything. Is this caused by having disconnected the sensor at the front behind the bumper or something else?

    Re: Homelink doesn't work

yeh probably it's because of the disconnection of your sensor and the front bumper?
Because the sensor's in the front bumper corner.

I haven't seen the sensor with the front bumper off, so can't help you much there.
Wait for some experienced guys to answer :)

    Re: Homelink doesn't work

when I had to do some body work on my current bumper..i swapped out to a nonsline bumper...and I didn't connect my fogs ...as it turns out...the homelink didnt work...i'm not sure if I had any correlation, but now that I have everythign connected again, it works fine
    Cheers!

that can't be good? i have a dtm bumper and there are no provisions for fogs, so they are disconnected.

    Re: Homelink doesn't work

    The harness is probably disconnected.

I dropped my front bumper off at a body shop and drove around with it off because I only have one car. I had the same symptoms and no homelink, so I guess the unit is actually on the bumper. The harnesses are pretty small so I guess they can be easily forgotten if the tech isn't real familiar with these cars...

But if you tell them this, I really doubt they'll spend another hour+ just to reconnect a harness they forgot. They'll probably even deny it. I say if you haven't already done the clear corner mod or paint your headlight housings, just live without homelink for now and reconnect it when you take your bumper off yourself.
    Ignorance is bliss.

Silly question...but have you tried to reset the homelink settings using the handheld garage opener?

Maybe it just needs to be reset...

    Re: Homelink doesn't work

    that sucks the bag

I was about to swap my S4 grill for RS4 grill (on my own thus removing bumper etc), but thinking about:

    a) headlight washers
    b) homelink sensors
    c) the general pain in the arse

are leading me to leave it to the dealership

anyone know what they'd charge for that???
