Head Light Issues... more inside.

So I was out tonight driving around without an issue, made 3 different stops where the car was shut off. My 4th stop after coming out of the grocery store I decided to check my oil level, when I started the car and turned on the head lights, all I got was marker lights. I pressed the fog lights and neither of them came on, so I then pulled on the wiper stalk, which turned on the high beams and then pushed it forward to try to get them to stay on which didn't work either. I shut the car off and checked the fuses, but everything looks okay. I managed to get the car home the mile to my apartment with out issue, but currently am at a loss as to what could be causing this.

Any ideas?

never mind i see the forum name lol.....i have a 98 a4 and had the exact same problem....several times. its a quick fix......heres the link that showed me what to do, its probably better than me trying to explain it

Actually i've got a 2000 S4. What's involved in removing the airbag?

well you disconnect the battery first. on a4's you remove the 2 torx screws that are holding it on, which you access from the back of the steering wheel. i know the s4 has a different steering wheel but its probably the same thing. my friend has an s4 steering wheel so i could take a look but he's out of town til monday. then it pops off, there'll be a plug in the back and you just pull it out.
