All parts included + labor? After or before tax? Which rotors and pads they putting in?

    doesnt sound toooo bad..

if you could DIY you could save well over $500 (before alignment....obviously a shop had to do that)

i wasnt aware there was a right and left valve cover gasket. at least, when i changed mine on my old 02, there was only 1 around the perimiter and then another for the spark plugs.

If I were you: I would buy Zimmerman rotors + Hawk HPS pads (or whatever you want) and the battery on my own. Installing the battery is very easy and quick.

Let the garage just do the valve cover gasket job and install the rotors/pads. That should be about 4 hours labor total, so about $300 to $400. Alignment can be done almost anywhere, and should not be expensive.

$900 is not too bad like absolutegtr said, but you might save some $$ and get the good parts yourself.

yeah i never thought so either, but there is a right and a left..only the right one was leaking, but they said the left one was eventually gonna leak, so i decided to do both

good call! also, the place specializes in audi, bmw, mercedes, and porsche...me and the guy talked for quite a while and said if it were up to him, he would sell the audi and get a bmw because the audi is gonna be much more expensive to fix in the future...he told me a story of a 1.8T where there was something wrong with the turbo, and he had to take the engine outta the car just to replace the turbo..it ended up costing 8,000...the guys car was only worth 10 he said this is because of how complicated our cars are built, and that bmw's are much simpler to fix certain things...any truth to this?

Maybe if it was a 2.7TT than would he have had to remove the engine....

Depends. There's some turbo kits out there for the 2.7T S4s that go for about $10K. But if it was stock, then yea, kind of a waste of money and sounds like they charged whoever it was out the ass.

That sounds like a pretty good price if doing it yourself is out the window.
