N75 J version on standard engine

Is it advisable to install the J version N75 on a standard engine without chip? If so, what can I expect from just installing the N75?

A chip is on the to do list but studying all other options first.

    Thanks

    J

mine ran awsome with the J valve on my 01 with stock software. I gained a couple extra psi and definatly spooled quicker..i used to run 13psi on the stock chip with the J valve.

    2nd that! ^^^^

The perceived increased performance (with the B6 ECU,) is mainly due to the higher boost spike and less precise control of the boost pressure compared to the latest "F" version N75 specified for the B6 1.8T. Therefore, using the "J" N75 is not advisable, IMO.

Umm....so the F version would be more suited for my B6 ecu. Does anyone know what version if there is one that is standard on a 04 B6?

    Thanks

All B6 A4 1.8T N75 superseded to version "F". The stock N75 PN is the PN on the part, then replace whatever suffix is on the original, most are "C", with version "F". At some point, version "F" is original equipment. My '03, build date 11/02, had a "C" originally equipped. AFAIK, versions "D" and "E", where never issued parts.
