    Question engine temp.

    so i just bought my car used about a month ago. everything worked just fine when i test drove it, but now my engine temp gauge isnt registering any temperature reading. is there a sensor in the engione compartment that i can replace to see if thats the problem?
    anyone els ehave this problem?

    It's a pretty common problem. There is a sensor mounted in the back of the head. It is an easy, inexpensive fix. Search for Engine Coolant Sensor and order from one of the online vendors that are all over the site here - ECS, etc.

    It's like $30 or something and just requires removal of a spring clip, popping the sensor out, replacing, and then replacing the clip.

    got the same thing with my 01 1.8t gunna be putting in a thermostat when i get my t belt done and if that dosnt fix it then its the sensor

    If the temp gauge doesn't register anything, it is not the thermostat - even with a stuck open thermostat, it will come up to temp a little bit, more-so if you sit idling.
